PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jesse Mckee (ranked 4798 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rocky Bear (ranked 24863 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jesse Mckee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rocky Bear!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Alec Ball and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Bear.
Mckee will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Bear shoots for a takedown but Mckee saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Mckee ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Mckee closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Mckee lands in his opponent's guard.
Mckee looking to sit in guard and control but Bear gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bear stands up over Mckee, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Bear has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Mckee is proving hard to escape from.

Bear passes easily into side control. Nice work.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Bear decides to stand back up. Bear steps back and let's Mckee get back to his feet.

Bear takes the fight into the clinch.

Bear manages to break the clinch.

Mckee gets a clinch.
Mckee tries to work over Bear's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Bear tries for a takedown. No joy.
Jesse Mckee has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rocky Bear.
Mckee doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Bear is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Bear has Mckee pressed against the cage, preventing Mckee from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Mckee prevents a takedown attempt there.
Bear is trying to pull guard but Mckee turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Mckee tries to land knees in the clinch but Bear avoids the damage to the body.

Mckee pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Bear closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Mckee did well to prevent Bear getting side control.

Mckee has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Bear is working away from the top position though.
Bear lands strikes from half guard.
Mckee tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Mckee is trying to maintain the position but Bear is very close to passing his half guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Bear postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Mckee to stand up.
Bear has a takedown stuffed.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mckee fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bear shoots for a takedown but Mckee saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

and Mckee counters by clinching up.
Mckee lands a good knee to the midsection. Bear won't want to take too many of those.
Mckee gets underhooks to prevent Bear's takedown attempt.
Bear is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Mckee to keep the fight standing.

Mckee breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Mckee closes this distance looking for a takedown but Bear circles away.

Bear breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Bear tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Mckee counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Bear is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Bear takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Bear throws a right and a left that Mckee avoids nicely.
Rocky Bear is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Mckee fails to land the takedown.
Bear shoots in for a takedown but Mckee shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Bear shoots in and bounces Mckee off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Mckee is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Mckee controls Bear momentarily but Bear frees himself.

Mckee has one of Bear's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage.

Bear wants to control but Mckee is keeping him busy.

Mckee manages to work his way to half guard, despite Bear's best efforts.
Mckee wants to control but Bear is keeping busy and won't allow it.

We've been informed that Bear has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Mckee is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Bear takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Bear in particular looking to stall.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Rocky Bear will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round!


Bear dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Mckee. That did some damage!
Bear throws a combination. Mckee tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
No luck for Mckee with that takedown attempt.
As Mckee backs off Bear throws a huge counter combo but Mckee manages to avoid it all.
Mckee closes the distance and clinches up with Bear, looking for a takedown. Mckee pushes Bear against the cage but Bear circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Bear drops down looking for an ankle pick but Mckee pulls his leg out and moves away.

Bear shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Bear got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mckee has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Bear has managed to get both his arms back between Mckee's legs - danger averted.

Mckee shoots in but Bear avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jesse Mckee. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Bear moves into the clinch.
Bear has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Bear is working for takedown but Mckee is calmly controlling the position for now.
Bear lands with a short head shot on the inside.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Mckee.
Mckee has had enough of the clinch but Bear keeps him there for the moment.

Mckee gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Bear.

Bear changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Mckee fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Rocky Bear seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Mckee throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Bear's waist but Bear gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mckee off to one side.

Bear drives through and clinches with Mckee against the cage.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Bear tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Mckee smiles and moves away.
Bear takes a kick to the side of the head.

And that's the end of the fight!
Rocky Bear comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Bear winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
