The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Fedor Mirinova and Viktor Lagutenko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight moves into the clinch position.
Kazakov breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A shot to the liver by Kazakov. Beautiful body shot.
Kazakov connects with a looping right hand.
It looks like Efren Bird has been cut.
Kazakov throws a shot to the body.
Bird is looking to clinch.
Kazakov throws a head kick but Bird moves out of range.
Bird closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Kazakov wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Bird counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Bird really is a fat lump.
Bird won't allow Kazakov to get back to his feet.

Kazakov is wriggling around but Bird manages to pass to half guard.
Kazakov pushes Bird off looking to stand but Bird dives back in and keeps control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Kazakov scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Bird manages to mount him!

Kazakov is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Bird is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Kazakov is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
It looked like Bird was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Kazakov swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Bird holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Kazakov is trying to force a seperation but Bird has the dominant position.
Kazakov breaks the clinch.
Kazakov connects with an inside leg kick.

Kazakov scores with a jab to the body.
Kazakov fails in his attempt to clinch.
Bird walks into a jab.
Kazakov tries to close the distance and clinch but Bird swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Bird throws a big counter combination but Kazakov scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Bird tries to clinch up but Kazakov circles away and keeps his distance.
Youri Kazakov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kazakov lands a head kick. Bird smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Kazakov lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Kazakov instigates a clinch.
Kazakov lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Bird.
Bird is breathing heavily.
Bird is trying to pull guard but Kazakov has him pressed against the cage.
Kazakov pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Bird showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Kazakov.

Kazakov closes the distance and clinches.
Bird is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Kazakov can't fight it off and eventually Bird manages to take the fight to the floor. Kazakov looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Bird thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Kazakov wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Bird manages to pass to side control.
Bird in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Kazakov tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Bird!
