Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bertram Adelhard (ranked 3753 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kurt Red (ranked 3372 p4p, 0 weight class). Adelhard's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Volbeat - Still Counting. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kurt Red! The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Jonathan Paton and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Adelhard drives through with a takedown into guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Adelhard won't allow Red to get back to his feet. Red trying to control the position.
Adelhard passes into half guard. Adelhard looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Red is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Adelhard jumps into side control!

Adelhard thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Adelhard closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Red bucks up and tries to throw Adelhard off but instead Adelhard has got his back! Red trying to control the position but Adelhard manages to sink in the hooks. Red is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Adelhard gets his way!
Red looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Adelhard is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Adelhard will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Adelhard is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Adelhard is trying to control the position but Red postures up. Adelhard fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Red to the ground. Adelhard is now in Red's guard. Adelhard is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Red is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Adelhard advances position into side control!
