Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Neal Diaz (ranked 4306 p4p, 0 weight class) and Percy Cunningham (ranked 4900 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Neal Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Percy Cunningham!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Joseph Jones and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Diaz instigates a clinch.
Diaz lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Cunningham wants to break the clinch but can't.

Diaz pulls Cunningham into guard.
Diaz pulls Cunningham in close to his closed guard and prevents Cunningham from doing any damage or advancing position.
Cunningham is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Diaz lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Diaz slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Diaz is pushing down on Cunningham's leg trying to pass to half guard. Cunningham is fighting to maintain full guard but Diaz has managed to sneak the leg through.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Diaz in particular looking to stall.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Diaz is trying to work for a kimura but Cunningham is defending well.
Diaz is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Cunningham!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Diaz has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Diaz is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Cunningham is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Cunningham flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Diaz anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Cunningham and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Diaz slips an arm under Cunningham chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Diaz has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Diaz is squeezing on Cunningham like an anaconda would it's prey. Cunningham fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Neal Diaz!
After winning the bout, Neal Diaz thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
