Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tyler Schultz (ranked 5622 p4p, 172 weight class) and Jon Bones (ranked 5676 p4p, 174 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tyler Schultz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jon Bones!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Steve Smith and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Schultz shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Bones napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Bones is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Bones has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Schultz is working away from the top position though.
Bones tries to roll over but Schultz keeps him under control.
Schultz wants to take a breather but Bones is having none of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Still in half guard, Schultz seems content to control.
Bones is trying to get back to full guard.
Bones moves into full guard.
Schultz has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Bones lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Bones throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Bones won't allow Schultz to get back to his feet.

Schultz manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Schultz is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Schultz wants to stand but Bones is controlling his posture from full guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Bones is on top in guard.

Bones controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Bones advances to half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Schultz blocking the ground and pound attempt from Bones.
Schultz knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bones on the ground.

Bones fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Schultz wants to hold on but Bones pushes him away.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Bones looking to control but Schultz is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Bones connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Bones takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Schultz slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Schultz displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Bones.
Bones shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Schultz as he avoids it easily.
Schultz went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
The fight stays on the outside here - Schultz looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
And Bones tries to counter it with a takedown but Schultz pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Schultz is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Bones's half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Bones is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Schultz is aware though and is defending well.
Bones keeping moving, preventing Schultz from controlling successfully.
Bones manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Schultz manages to get himself to full guard.

Bones works over Schultz with some ground and pound from guard.
Bones slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Schultz wants to get back to his feet but Bones is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Bones trying to control but Schultz is working from the bottom.
Bones controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Schultz is looking to stand up but Bones isn't so interested in that idea.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Schultz throws a leg kick

and Bones counters with a nice double leg into side control. Schultz won't be happy with that.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Schultz prevents Bones from moving into mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Jon Bones will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!



Bones closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Schultz quickly recovers to half guard.

Schultz kicks Bones off and gets back to his feet.
Schultz lands a really nice looking cross but Bones seems unphased.
Bones gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Schultz counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Bones shoots for a double leg takedown but Schultz sprawls well. He's pushed Bones's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Bones shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Schultz's guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Schultz is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Bones presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Bones shoots for a takedown but Schultz saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Tyler Schultz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jon Bones.

Bones scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Schultz manages to mount him!
Bones is squirming around, avoiding Schultz's attempts to control the action.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Bones can do anything to dispel that myth.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Bones wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Schultz.
Bones swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.

Jon Bones is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
