PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rory Andler (ranked 4424 p4p, 379 weight class) and Benchamek Sitsopirang (ranked 3097 p4p, 305 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rory Andler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Benchamek Sitsopirang!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Nard Betker and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sitsopirang shoots in and bounces Andler off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Sitsopirang wants to pass the guard but Andler is keeping the position.

Andler looking for a guillotine here but Sitsopirang defends easily.
Sitsopirang looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Andler is trying to keep Sitsopirang in close.
Sitsopirang trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Andler avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Sitsopirang is looking to work some ground and pound but Andler has wrist control.

Andler is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sitsopirang wants to control from the top but Andler keeps moving.
Sitsopirang throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Sitsopirang must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Andler utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Sitsopirang wants to control from the top but Andler keeps moving.
Sitsopirang with a flurry of punches that miss.
Andler really is a fat lump.
Sitsopirang wants to pass the guard but Andler is keeping the position.
Andler avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Andler pulls Sitsopirang in close to prevent any damage.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Sitsopirang avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Andler had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Sitsopirang defends it easily.
Sitsopirang trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Andler wants to get back to his feet but Sitsopirang is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Sitsopirang drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Sitsopirang stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Andler swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Andler had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Sitsopirang defends it easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Benchamek Sitsopirang dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Andler is looking to land body kicks.
Andler is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Sitsopirang.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Sitsopirang gets through Andler's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Sitsopirang lands a left hand that snaps the head of Andler backwards.

Sitsopirang drags the fight down to the ground.
Andler trying to control but Sitsopirang is working from the bottom.
Andler might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Sitsopirang has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Andler is really struggling to control Sitsopirang but he's trying to hold on to the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Andler tries to stand but Sitsopirang is controlling from the bottom.
Sitsopirang really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Andler. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Sitsopirang pushes Andler off and scrambles back to his feet.

Sitsopirang closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Andler misses with a shot to the kidneys.
The referee is keeping an eye on Sitsopirang - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Andler jumps into guard, dragging Sitsopirang to the mat.

Andler is looking for a triangle but Sitsopirang pushes his legs off easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sitsopirang throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Sitsopirang avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Sitsopirang wants to control from the top but Andler keeps moving.
Sitsopirang throws a big elbow that misses.

Andler utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sitsopirang sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Andler's guard.

Sitsopirang escapes and gets back to his feet.
Andler throws a head kick that half lands.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Benchamek Sitsopirang showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Andler throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Andler throws a right hand that misses
and Sitsopirang counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Sitsopirang shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Andler's guard.

Andler scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Sitsopirang rushes Andler and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
A right handed body shot lands from Sitsopirang.
Sitsopirang lands an uppercut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Sitsopirang has Andler pushed against the cage.
A short uppercut from Sitsopirang.
Andler misses with a hook to the ribs.
Andler has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Sitsopirang avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Sitsopirang lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Sitsopirang breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
A head kick misses from Andler.

Sitsopirang shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Sitsopirang showed some decent athleticism there.
Sitsopirang throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Nice strikes from Sitsopirang there.
Sitsopirang performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Sitsopirang seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Sitsopirang stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Andler to get to his feet.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nice takedown defense from Sitsopirang. No joy for Andler on that attempt.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Andler works over Sitsopirang's head and body with a nice combination.

Sitsopirang closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Sitsopirang lands in his opponent's guard.
Andler looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Andler has momentary wrist control but Sitsopirang slips an elbow through the middle.
Rory Andler has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Sitsopirang is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Andler can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Sitsopirang controls the pace.

Benchamek Sitsopirang comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Sitsopirang winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
