Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Norberto Gaines!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Travis Carter!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Micheangelo Fripello and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carter looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Gaines!
Gaines sneaks out the side door and pushes Carter away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Carter has taken the fight to the clinch.
Gaines is looking for a takedown.
Carter ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Carter no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Gaines throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Carter works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Gaines has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Carter is proving hard to escape from.
Gaines stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Carter feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Gainess jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Carter bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Carter prevents Gaines from improving his position.

Carter is working for a kimura but Gaines is defending it quite comfortably.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Carter is looking to advance position but Gaines won't allow it.
Gaines tries to get to full guard but Carter has control of the leg.

Carter stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Carter looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Carter is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Gaines reverses the position - he's now on top in Carter's guard.
Gaines wants to stand but Carter is controlling his posture from full guard.
Gaines gets to his feet. Carter looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Carter throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Gaines tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Carter is in Gaines's guard.
Gaines is wriggling around but Carter manages to pass to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A close round but Travis Carter will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Carter feints and as Gaines raises his hands in defense, Carter changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Carter controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Carter passes Gaines's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Carter seems to be working for a kimura but Gaines defends the submission attempt.
Still in half guard, Carter seems content to control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Carter is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Carter decides to return to a standing position.
Carter closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Gaines to the mat! Gaines manages to get full guard.
Carter stays in close to Gaines's body and controls the position.
Carter decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Gaines, up you get!

Carter shoots in and bounces Gaines off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Gaines wriggles free and stands up.
Carter gets the takedown into side control.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Carter sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Gaines is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Carter throwing strikes but Gaines manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Carter is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Gaines's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Carter wants to control but Gaines is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Gaines winds up and cracks Carter with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Carter moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Carter has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gaines can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Carter wants to control but Gaines passes easily into half guard.
Gaines tries to stand but can't do so whilst Carter controls his leg.
Carter manages to escape and get back to his feet!
A combination from Carter does no damage.
Norberto Gaines is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Gaines takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Gaines will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Gaines is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Carter dives into side control.

Travis Carter showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
A punch combination from Carter misses.
Carter clinches up with Gaines and pushes him back against the cage.
Carter breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Carter looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Carter seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Carter's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Carter has closed the distance and engaged Gaines in a clinch.
Carter turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Gaines bucks up and tries to throw Carter off but instead Carter has got his back!
Carter has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Gaines is trying to break free.

So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Carter is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Gaines defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Carter is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Gaines is defending well though. Carter let's go of the attempt for now.

Travis Carter comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Carter has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
