Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Wale Ammond (ranked 3502 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Charles (ranked 2756 p4p, 0 weight class). Ammond comes to the cage accompanied by Bad. Charles is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Renegades Of Funk - Rage Against The Machine. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Wale Ammond!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mike Charles!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Charles avoids the head kick by Ammond.
A bone on bone clash there as Charles blocks the leg kick.

Ammond darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Charles has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Ammond is on him like a limpet, forcing Charles back against the cage.
Ammond is looking to take this one to the mat.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Charles just misses with a elbow thrown towards Ammond's brow.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Charles misses with a knee to the head.
Ammond drops down looking for an ankle pick but Charles pulls his leg out and moves away.
Ammond misses with a low kick.
A little jabbing left from Charles on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Ammond tries to work over Charles's front leg with a kick but Charles checks it.

Charles cracks a nice hook into Ammond's ribs.
Charles fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Ammond on the side of the head.
Ammond takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Ammond is looking to land body kicks.
Ammond keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Ammond throws a leg kick but Charles checks it.
Ammond throws a sloppy head kick and Charles moves out of range easily.
Ammond missing with a left hand there. Charles was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Ammond tried to score with a low kick but Charles checks it.
Ammond throws a push kick but Charles slaps the foot to one side.
Ammond throws a solid leg kick but Charles takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Ammond.
Charles dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Charles connects with a right hand. Ammond shakes it off.
Ammond moves out of range of the body kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Charles scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Ammond throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.

Ammond shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Charles manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Charles has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Ammond is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Charles is leaning against Ammond and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Charles misses with a knee strike.
Charles with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Charles scores with a knee to the head.
Charles with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Ammond wants to take the fight to the mat but Charles manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Wale Ammond. That's going to take a lot out of him.

A short uppercut from Charles.
Charles misses with an elbow over the top.
Charles lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Charles lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Charles tries to land knees in the clinch but Ammond avoids the damage to the body.

Ammond is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Charles can't fight it off and eventually Ammond manages to take the fight to the floor. Charles looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Ammond stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Charles swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Ammond drops back, looking for a kneebar! Charles looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Charles looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Charles!

Charles's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Charles is continuing to stall.
Ammond wants to control but Charles postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mike Charles dominated that round.
That's time! Ammond's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Charles lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Ammond at a distance.
Ammond tries for a takedown but Charles sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Ammond throws a lazy head kick
enabling Charles to counter with a crisp jab.
Charles takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Ammond pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Ammond throws out a loose jab but Charles uses good head movement to avoid it.
Mike Charles seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Ammond lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Charles fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Ammond looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Charles bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Ammond's head backwards.

Ammond closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Charles's guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Mike Charles has got the better of the ground game so far.
Ammond looking to sit in guard and control but Charles gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Charles looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Charles passes into half guard.
Charles wants to advance to full mount but Ammond doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Ammond is trying to keep Charles in close.
Charles is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
More stalling from Charles.

Charles got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ammond has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Charles has managed to get both his arms back between Ammond's legs - danger averted.
Ammond looking for a sweep. Not yet Ammond, not yet.
Charles is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Let's hope that Charles has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Charles will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Charles lunges at Ammond with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Ammond's hand.
Charles checks a leg kick nicely.
Charles lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Ammond connects with an inside leg kick.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Charles connects with a solid leg kick.
Ammond staying out of range there.
Ammond shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Charles as he jumps to the side.
Charles looks to throw the jab but Ammond is out of range.
Ammond tries to land a body kick
letting Charles counter with a right hand.
Nice uppercut lands for Charles. That snapped Ammond's head back.
Whack! Charles lands a heavy head kick that drops Ammond. The ref tackles Charles to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Ammond was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Mike Charles!
Mike Charles decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
In defeat, Wale Ammond stepped up to the mic, saying 'Credit be to Allah. Pit Bull Development sells the best prodcucts! I am ready to go a few more rounds.'.
