Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Montoya Malasantos (ranked 2768 p4p, 161 weight class) and Bernie Sanders (ranked 3921 p4p, 220 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Montoya Malasantos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bernie Sanders!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, William Peck and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Malasantos.
Malasantos has been working on his boxing with his coaches at The King's Road in the buildup to the fight.
Sanders just misses with a punch to the body.

and Sanders counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Malasantos wants to control the position but Sanders says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

Malasantos is looking to control Sanders's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Malasantos avoid being mounted?

Malasantos tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Sanders wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Malasantos is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Sanders can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Malasantos is looking to escape.
Malasantos tries to hold on but Sanders pushes him away.

Malasantos wants to get back to his feet but Sanders is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Malasantos thuds a left hand into Sanders's body.

Sanders gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Malasantos connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Malasantos connects with a good right hand that stumbles Sanders. Sanders circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Sanders seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Malasantos does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Montoya Malasantos.
