PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Scott Hill (ranked 2369 p4p, 265 weight class) and John Lawrence (ranked 1341 p4p, 169 weight class). Lawrence has chosen No Surrender as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hill darts in looking for a takedown but Lawrence gets double underhooks and turns Hill into the ropes.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Lawrence clinches up with Hill and pushes him back against the ropes.

Hill has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Lawrence is trying to keep an underhook but Hill manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Lawrence slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Lawrence working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hill doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hill manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lawrence is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Hill defends well.

Lawrence throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Hill escapes and throws Lawrence's legs to the side, diving into side control!
You can see the frustration on Lawrence's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Hill thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Hill is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Lawrence is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Lawrence tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Hill wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Hill slips a nice elbow through Lawrence's hands, connecting with Lawrence's forehead.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Lawrence looking for a triangle here. Hill is fighting it but it looks tight! Lawrence pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Hill is tapping out - this one is all over!
