The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Gardens.
Gardens uses good head movement to avoid the hook from LaCrosse.
LaCrosse tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Gardens looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Duke LaCrosse seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
LaCrosse thows a left - swing and a miss!
Gardens looks to score with a jab to the body but LaCrosse is just out of range.

Gardens closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

LaCrosse sneaks out the side door and pushes Gardens away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
LaCrosse throws a solid leg kick but Gardens takes the impact on his shin and smiles at LaCrosse.

Gardens is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. LaCrosse defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
