Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Alzonz Appalusu (ranked 1071 p4p, 140 weight class) and Roc Le Phat (ranked 2292 p4p, 265 weight class). Appalusu comes to the cage accompanied by Rocky theme song. Le Phat is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Bonita Applebum. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Roc Le Phat!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Appalusu gets a takedown into half guard.

Le Phat felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

We've been hearing good reports from Appalusu's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Appalusu shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Le Phat but Le Phat pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Appalusu walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.


It looks like Alzonz Appalusu has been cut.
Appalusu tries for a takedown but Le Phat sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Le Phat stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Le Phat wants it to stay on the feet.
Le Phat looks to throw the jab but Appalusu is out of range.

Le Phat looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

Horrible takedown attempt by Appalusu or perhaps it was just good defense by Le Phat, which made it look bad.

A swing and a miss from Le Phat.
Le Phat leaves Appalusu with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Roc Le Phat is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Appalusu closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Le Phat tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Appalusu is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Le Phat has escaped the position, nice work there.

Le Phat tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Appalusu wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Appalusu is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Le Phat is trying to escape and Appalusu transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Le Phat is forced to tap! Nice work there by Appalusu! Very nice indeed!
