The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Viktor Lagutenko and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Perez avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Perez scores with a sloppy right hand. Dela Cruz should have avoided that one.
Perez scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Perez moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.


It looks like Juan Dela Cruz has been cut.

Dela Cruz is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Perez has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Arm Breakers/BJJ in the buildup to the fight.

Dela Cruz's coach down at whitey's gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Dela Cruz's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Perez lands with an uppercut that bounces Dela Cruz off the cage and back into range.

and Perez connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Dela Cruz swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Perez counters with a left to the body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Perez thuds his right hand into Dela Cruz's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Dela Cruz fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Perez swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Dela Cruz shoots in looking for a takedown. Perez tries to sprawl out of it but Dela Cruz keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Perez manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Perez uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Perez scores with a hook to the body. Dela Cruz takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Dela Cruz shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Perez pinned against the cage. Perez gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Perez swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Perez fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Dela Cruz looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Perez connects with a body shot.
Perez throws a nice looking combination but Dela Cruz bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Perez fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Dela Cruz is still on wobbly legs! Can Perez finish him?
Dela Cruz on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Perez is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.

Dela Cruz tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Perez counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Perez walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Dela Cruz drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Perez swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Dela Cruz's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:12 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Leroy Perez!
Leroy Perez was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
