Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Steven Petersen (ranked 2222 p4p, 253 weight class) and Andrey Eremeev (ranked 2514 p4p, 277 weight class). Andrey Eremeev is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Steven Petersen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
18 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Andrey Eremeev! The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Wagner Zegers and Patrick Alders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Petersen tries a head kick but it misses.
Eremeev fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Eremeev with a lazy takedown attempt and Petersen counters with a series of strikes. Eremeev will be more careful next time no doubt. Eremeev is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Eremeev takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Petersen lands a right hook to the body.
Eremeev fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Petersen sprawls well initially but Eremeev persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Petersen desperately trying to maintain half guard. Eremeev is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Eremeev is looking to advance position but Petersen won't allow it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Eremeev is working for a kimura but Petersen is defending it quite comfortably.
Petersen controlling the leg, holding on to half guard. Eremeev with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Eremeev's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Eremeev is trying to control the action in half guard but Petersen is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Eremeev closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Eremeev seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Petersen does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Petersen is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Never TaP^ Best sparring in Town, so we'll see if he gets out of it. Eremeev prevents Petersen from improving his position. Petersen is controlling Eremeev's position as best he can from this difficult position. Petersen wants to get back to full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Petersen slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Eremeev stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Petersen swivels though and keeps the full guard. Eremeev not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Eremeev is pushing down on Petersen's leg trying to pass to half guard. Petersen is fighting to maintain full guard but Eremeev has managed to sneak the leg through. Petersen controlling the leg, holding on to half guard. Eremeev is taking a breather. Petersen says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Eremeev is pressing down on Petersen's thigh, looking to free his foot. Petersen is holding on for now. Well, if Eremeev is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Petersen throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Eremeev stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Andrey Eremeev will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Eremeev tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Petersen swivels and escapes. Petersen lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Petersen tries to sprawl but Eremeev drives through with a takedown into half guard. Petersen is trying to maintain the position but Eremeev is very close to passing his half guard. Eremeev looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Petersen is controlling Eremeev's trapped leg to prevent Eremeev from advancing to side control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Eremeev controlling the action here. Eremeev is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Petersen doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Eremeev. Andrey Eremeev has got the better of the ground game so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Petersen keeps control of the position for the meantime. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Petersen slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Petersen is trying to hold Eremeev in close to prevent damage but Eremeev has managed to pass into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Eremeev wants to pass to mount but Petersen is defending the position. Eremeev passes into side control, despite Petersen's attempt to control the position.
Eremeev has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Petersen struggling a bit here. Petersen is trying to escape the position but Eremeev is controlling the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Petersen isn't going anywhere. Petersen is trying to work for a sweep but Eremeev has mounted him! Eremeev trying to control but he's not successful this time. Eremeev tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Petersen tries to reverse the position but Eremeev maintains control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Eremeev goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Petersen turns into him and now he's in Eremeev's guard.
Petersen passes Eremeev's left leg - he's now in half guard. Eremeev is trying to maintain the position but Petersen is very close to passing his half guard. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Petersen looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Petersen is trying to control. Eremeev wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Andrey Eremeev showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
Eremeev has a takedown stuffed. Petersen feints and then cracks Eremeev's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Eremeev down. Petersen throws a low kick but Eremeev avoids it. Eremeev tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Petersen defends well and Eremeev ends up having to push Petersen into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Petersen feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Eremeevs jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Good shot there by Petersen. That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Eremeev crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Petersen - the referee stops the clock and Eremeev gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Petersen. Eremeev manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Petersen scores with a crisp jab that stopped Eremeev in his tracks. Petersen scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Andrey Eremeev is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Eremeev shoots for a double leg takedown but Petersen sprawls well. He's pushed Eremeev's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Petersen was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit. Steven Petersen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andrey Eremeev. A nice leg kick lands there from Petersen. A nice combination there by Petersen.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Eremeev goes for a double leg but Petersen avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Petersen continues to drive forward. Petersen lands a nice shot that snaps Eremeev's head back.
Steven Petersen is winning the standup battle so far. Petersen lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
That's one minute gone in the round. Eremeev fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Petersen lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Petersen chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Eremeev takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Eremeev is rocked! Eremeev is holding his hands too far apart here. Petersen throws a hard, straight punch right down the pipe and BOOM! Eremeev is out! That punch landed square on the jaw - what a shot!
