Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ren Akita (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Keiji Hizaoka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Akita looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Hizaoka!

Hizaoka tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Akita wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Akita is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Hizaoka is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Hizaoka really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Akita. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Hizaoka is trying to control Akita's posture but Akita avoids it.

Akita is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hizaoka knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hizaoka tries to bench press Akita off him but Akita keeps the position.
Hizaoka is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Akita is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Horrible takedown by Akita or perhaps it was just good defense by Hizaoka which made him look bad.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Hizaoka wants to clinch up but Akita keeps it at a distance.
Akita connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Hizaoka momentarily.

Akita feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Hizaoka shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Akita's guard.

Hizaoka is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Akita is on top in guard.
Hizaoka is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
