Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kirby Stout! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Captain Alex! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Tiny Johnson and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Alex throws a leg kick that misses. Alex tries to land a leg kick but Stout saw it coming and moves away.
Alex throws a half hearted mid kick. Stout throws a quick counter head kick but Alex was just out of range. Stout shoots in and bounces Alex off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Alex looking for a guillotine here but Stout defends easily.
Alex had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Stout defends it easily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Alex throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Stout escapes and throws Alex's legs to the side, diving into side control!
That's one minute gone in the round. Stout landing strikes. Stout is putting a hurting on Alex here, landing some big shots from side control. Stout misses with the ground and pound. Alex looks to move to half guard but instead Stout has passed into mount! Damn! Stout landing strikes from the mount. A nice elbow there by Stout.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Stout cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
The referee warns Alex that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Stout cracks Alex with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Stout lands a nice shot to the head. Stout with good strikes from the mount here! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Stout cracks Alex with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Alex should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Alex manages to regain half guard. Good work. Alex actively working from the bottom here. Stout lands with a punch from half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Stout scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Alex looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Stout looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Alex with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Nice strikes from Stout there. Stout working the head and body with strikes. Stout knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Alex on the ground. Alex has hold of Stout's hands but Stout slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Alex looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Stout working Alex over with strikes.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nice strikes from Stout there. Alex is looking to improve his position.
Stout working Alex over with strikes. Alex is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Stout pulls his head out easily. Alex looking for submissions off his back. Stout is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kirby Stout dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Alex motions for Stout to come forward. Alex throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Alex thuds his shin into the meat of Stout's side. Alex throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. Alex buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Stout drives through with a takedown into Alex's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Alex has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Stout is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Alex. Stout lands some shots froms side control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Alex tries to bench press Stout off him but Stout keeps the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stout landing strikes. Stout is chipping away with strikes.
Alex tries to get back to half guard but can't. Stout working the ground and pound. Stout is putting a hurting on Alex here, landing some big shots from side control. Stout lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Alex down.
Check out the look on Stout's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Alex tries to buck Stout off but Stout is having none of it. Stout working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Stout in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Alex on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Alex manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Stout works his way to full guard. Good work. Stout not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Stout is pulling down on Alex's head. It's preventing any offense from Alex, at least for the moment. Alex drops back looking for a leg! Stout is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Stout manages to kick Alex off! Alex jumps back into Stout's guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Stout is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Stout lands some strikes from the bottom. Alex drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Stout dives on top into guard. Stout is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Alex working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Stout doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Alex is tightening it up a little... Stout has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Stout reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Stout taps out! Nice BJJ there by Alex!
