Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jessie James (ranked 917 p4p, 116 weight class) and Rafael Galvao (ranked 2968 p4p, 306 weight class). James comes to the cage accompanied by Raining Blood - Slayer. Galvao has chosen Kodaline - All I Want as his entrance music. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jessie James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rafael Galvao!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Taro Takaoka and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Galvao takes one on the chin but seems OK.
James lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
James lands a really nice looking cross but Galvao seems unphased.
James connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
A shot to the liver by James. Beautiful body shot.
James jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Galvao looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
James connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Galvao momentarily.
Galvao tries for a takedown but James circles away easily
and James counters with a right hand to the body.
Galvao shoots in for a double leg but James sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
James was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Jessie James has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rafael Galvao.
James throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
James connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Galvao shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as James sprawls well. James wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Galvao gets slowly back to his feet.
Galvao takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Galvao shoots in looking for a takedown. James tries to sprawl out of it but Galvao keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. James manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

James cracks Galvao with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
James comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Galvao tries for a takedown but James sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
James lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
James changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Galvao doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
James uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Galvao has time to react.

Galvao shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Galvao showed some decent athleticism there.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Galvao prevents James from standing back up.

Galvao is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, James has managed to free his arm - good work.

Galvao is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Galvao is sneakily working for an arm triangle but James sees it coming and defends easily.
James looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Galvao wants to control but James is keeping him busy.

Galvao wants to work for an arm triangle but James is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Galvao looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
James is staying active underneath Galvao, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

James won't allow Galvao to pass to mount.

Galvao is trying to work for a kimura but James is defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
James is trying to control but can't.

Galvao is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so James is just riding it out for now. Galvao eventually gives up the hold.
James gets full guard.
Galvao postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Galvao drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and James dives on top into guard.

James is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Galvao has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. James is looking to defend but Galvao has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for James! Galvao pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, James taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Rafael Galvao!
