PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tom Rivers (ranked 1239 p4p, 154 weight class) and Edward Kenway (ranked 329 p4p, 44 weight class). Rivers comes to the cage accompanied by start from scratch. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tom Rivers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 44 - 17 - 4, fighting out of Las Vegas, Edward Kenway!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Sam Margolis and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kenway throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Kenway has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Rivers is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Rivers lands a nice hook to Kenway's body. Kenway takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Kenway takes a swing at Rivers's ribcage but misses.
Rivers stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Kenway cracks a nice hook into Rivers's ribs.
Donk. Rivers catches Kenway right on the button with a cross.
Rivers feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Kenways jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Kenway on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Rivers changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Kenway tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Kenway avoids a punch combination nicely.
It seemed like Kenway was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Tom Rivers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Rivers fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Kenway manages to avoid it.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Rivers tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Kenway is able to avoid easily.

and Kenway counters with a crisp right hand that drops Rivers! Kenway lets Rivers back up to his feet, looking for a finish!
Oh Rivers is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Rivers swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Kenway counters with a stiff jab, followed by a cross and an uppercut! That's too much punishment for Rivers to take - he tumbles to the canvas, blood pouring from his nose, barely conscious. That's the end of the fight! Great knockout by Kenway!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:38 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Edward Kenway!
Edward Kenway seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
