Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Eugene Austin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Sanchez! The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sanchez darts in and clinches Austin up against the cage. Austin jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Sanchez walks away with a smile on his face. Austin gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Austin fails with an attempt to clinch.
Sanchez throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Austin closes the distance and clinches up with Sanchez, looking for a takedown. Austin pushes Sanchez against the cage but Sanchez circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Sanchez darts in and clinches Austin up against the cage. Sanchez misses with an elbow over the top. Austin pulls guard effortlessly. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sanchez trying to control but Austin is working from the bottom. Austin looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Austin really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sanchez stands up and waves to Austin to follow him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sanchez shoots in and bounces Austin off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Austin seems keen to control Sanchez's posture. Sanchez has gone for a leg lock! Austin slips out almost immediately though and dives into Sanchez's guard. Austin content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sanchez is controlling Austin's posture. Austin lands a couple of decent looking shots. Sanchez is trying to keep Austin in close.
Austin prevents Sanchez from getting back to his feet. Sanchez has an active guard here but Austin has managed to pass into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Ground and pound from Austin. Sanchez wants to get back to full guard. Austin lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Austin seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Sanchez trying to control from the bottom.
Austin throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Sanchez to regain full guard. Sanchez looking for a guillotine here but Austin defends easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Austin postures up and lands a big shot to Sanchez's brow. Sanchez is looking for a triangle but Austin pushes his legs off easily.
Austin works over Sanchez with some ground and pound from guard. Austin connects with a couple of short punches. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Sanchez is pulling down on Austin's head. It's preventing any offense from Austin, at least for the moment. Austin won't allow Sanchez to sweep him here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Eugene Austin will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Sanchez missing with a left hand there. Austin was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Sanchez goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Sanchez tries to close the distance and clinch but Austin swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Sanchez is looking to clinch but Austin is avoiding it.
John Sanchez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Austin tries to keep at a distance but Sanchez has taken the fight into the clinch. Austin tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Sanchez smiles and moves away.
Sanchez has closed the distance and engaged Austin in a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sanchez managing to block the knees to the body from Austin.

Austin will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Austin throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Sanchez works some decent striking defense from the bottom. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Sanchez holds on and takes a little breather. Sanchez looking to control.
Sanchez wants to sweep here but Austin controlling him for the moment. Austin scoring with some ground and pound. Austin landing with the ground and pound. Sanchez is trying to control the position from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Austin content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Austin throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Sanchez works some decent striking defense from the bottom. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Sanchez is on top in guard.
Sanchez would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Sanchez advances to half guard. Austin is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sanchez is thwarting Austin's attempts to control the position. Sanchez is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Sanchez is keen to just control but Austin is a slippery customer. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Austin wants to control but Sanchez is keeping busy.
Sanchez is looking to take a break and control but Austin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Sanchez moves into range and clinches up with Austin. Austin tries to pull guard but Sanchez holds him up against the cage and eventually Austin drops back down to his feet.
A bit of stalling here from Sanchez.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Eugene Austin. That's going to take a lot out of him. Sanchez pulls guard effortlessly. Sanchez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Sanchez isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Austin stacks Sanchez on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Austin! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Sanchez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Austin is trying to pull guard but Sanchez turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Sanchez has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Austin tries to break the clinch but Sanchez is controlling the position. Sanchez pulls Austin into guard.

Sanchez has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Austin is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Sanchez. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sanchez is not in a great position here, taking some shots. A control attempt from Sanchez but he's now mounted!

The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Sanchez is desperately trying to improve his position but Austin has a good base and remains in mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Austin is landing with some decent strikes but Sanchez is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Austin landing punches. Austin lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Sanchez hang on? Sanchez is trying desperately to improve position. Austin raining down hammerfists from mount. Sanchez wants to hold on but Austin pushes him away. Sanchez is in all sorts of trouble here.
Austin lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Austin cracks Sanchez with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sanchez tries to hold on but Austin postures up. Austin breaks from Sanchez's wrist control and lands an elbow. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Sanchez regains half guard. Sanchez has hold of Austin's hands but Austin slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Sanchez looking for submissions off his back. Sanchez takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Austin scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
And that's the end of the fight! Eugene Austin showed his dominance in that final round. I think Austin has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
