Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kevin Shinnie (ranked 2333 p4p, 239 weight class) and Neville Southall (ranked 2000 p4p, 217 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kevin Shinnie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Neville Southall!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Arvi Lind and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shinnie misses with an uppercut.
Southall misses with an uppercut.
Shinnie looks to score with a jab to the body but Southall is just out of range.
Shinnie misses with a looping left.
Southall throws a shot from downtown. Shinnie moves away and avoids it.
Southall walks into a stiff left hand from Shinnie.


It looks like Neville Southall has been cut.
Southall checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Shinnie takes a swing at Southall's ribcage but misses.
Shinnie swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Kevin Shinnie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shinnie moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Southall throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Southall keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Shinnie.
Southall takes a jab right on the kisser.
Shinnie swinging wildly here.

A left lands for Southall.


It looks like Kevin Shinnie has been cut.
Shinnie looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Southall crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Shinnie - the referee stops the clock and Southall gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Shinnie. Southall manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Southall staying out of range there.
Shinnie rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Southall counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
A combination from Southall does no damage.
Shinnie lands with an overhand left.
Shinnie keeps the fight on the outside.
Shinnie misses with a hook. Southall ducked under it nicely.
Southall walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Shinnie throws a body punch but Southall moves out of range.
Shinnie throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Shinnie tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Southall was well out of range. Poor timing from Shinnie.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Shinnie throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Southall shapes to counter with a head kick.
Shinnie misses with a body shot.
Shinnie connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Southall's hands.
Shinnie throws a lazy right hand but Southall sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Southall blocks a jab.
Southall misses with a body shot.
Shinnie appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Southall changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Shinnie tries to avoid it but Southall manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Shinnie to the ground. Shinnie escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Shinnie tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Southall was well out of range. Poor timing from Shinnie.
Southall swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Southall throws out a powerful jab.
Shinnie throws a right hand that Southall ducks under and follows up with a left that Southall also avoids with ease.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kevin Shinnie dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Southall defending well as Shinnie loads up on a big left hand.
A big right from Shinnie misses.
Shinnie ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Southall misses with a low kick.
Shinnie throws a lazy uppercut
and Southall makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Southall lands with an uppercut that bounces Shinnie off the ropes and back into range.
Southall throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Southall pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Shinnie ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Southall moves away.
And Southall tries to counter it with a takedown but Shinnie pushes his down on his head and steps out.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
No joy there for Shinnie, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Southall closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Southall keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Shinnie.
Shinnie closes the distance and lands a one-two.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Southall fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Shinnie manages to avoid it.
Southall looks to land a left hand but Shinnie moved out of range nicely.
Shinnie dodges the punch combination from Southall.
No luck for Southall with that takedown attempt.
Kevin Shinnie is winning the standup battle so far.
Shinnie missing with a left hand there. Southall was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Southall! But no joy.
Shinnie misses with an uppercut.

Southall clinches with his opponent.
Shinnie blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Shinnie can't break the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Shinnie's face as he tries to break the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Shinnie looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Southall turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Shinnie pushes Southall away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Southall gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Southall scores with a couple of short elbows.
Shinnie is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the ropes but Southall has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Southall has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Southall cracks Shinnie with an elbow. That is naaassty.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Southall working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The ground and pound from Southall seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Shinnie is trying to buck Southall off.
Shinnie takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Shinnie is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Shinnie is rocked!
Southall lands a big left to the face of Shinnie, bouncing his head like a basketball. Another shot from Southall and another - Shinnie is out! Southall stands up and salutes his fans, who are going crazy in the stands.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Neville Southall!
