PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Norberto Kelley (ranked 24050 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Lane (ranked 4794 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Peter Lane was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Norberto Kelley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Peter Lane!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Stewart Dunkirk and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lane attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Kelley is looking to counter the offense by Lane and move into the clinch.
Lane fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Kelley has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Lane cracks a nice hook into Kelley's ribs.
Lane thows a leg kick but Kelley checks it

and Kelley counters with a takedown into side control.

Lane explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Lane throws a head kick but Kelley moves out of range.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Lane shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Lane wants to control from the top but Kelley keeps moving.
Kelley wants to get back to his feet but Lane is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Lane sitting in guard, not really doing much.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lane throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kelley works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Lane seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Kelley is trying to control the position but Lane postures up.
Kelley is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Kelley bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Lane's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lane pulls Kelley in to control the position.

Lane working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kelley doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kelley manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lane not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Lane might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Kelley haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Lane has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Kelley off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Lane moves into the clinch.
Lane has a couple of punches blocked by Kelley.

Kelley drags the fight down to the ground.
Lane looking to sit in guard and control but Kelley gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


Lane looking for a guillotine here but Kelley defends easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Kelley drops back, looking for a kneebar! Lane looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Lane looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Lane!

Lane lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Kelley down.
Lane grinds an elbow into Kelley's temple.
Kelley really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Kelley tries to improve position but can't.
Lane is chipping away with strikes.
Lane cracks Kelley with an elbow. That is naaassty.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Lane landing a few strikes.


Kelley is rocked!
Lane in side control here. He's dropped a big elbow there and Kelley looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! Lane turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory! Good killer instinct there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Peter Lane!
