Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kyoksu Tuhura! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Max Engelmann! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Yuuki Gou.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Engelmann fails in his attempt to clinch. Engelmann lands a nice looking kick to the body. Tuhura takes a step back to recover. The fight moves into the clinch position. A short left from Tuhura. Tuhura pressing his opponent against the cage. Tuhura blocks a punch to the side of the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Engelmann breaks the clinch.
Engelmann shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Tuhura sprawls well. Tuhura wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Engelmann gets slowly back to his feet. Engelmann tries to clinch and Tuhura counters with a single leg into guard. Engelmann didn't expect that.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tuhura sitting in guard here, content to control. Tuhura slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Tuhura is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Engelmann's shoulder. That is not cool. Tuhura throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Tuhura tries to advance to mount but can't. The referee asks Tuhura politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Tuhura prefers to stall for the moment though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Engelmann gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Engelmann looks winded! Tuhura working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Engelmann turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Tuhura off and cradles Engelmann's limp body as Tuhura celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Kyoksu Tuhura!
