PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between William Wallace (ranked 1055 p4p, 131 weight class) and Ray Nathan (ranked 1571 p4p, 198 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, William Wallace!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ray Nathan!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Reed Andrews and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nathan throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Wallace rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Nathan moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Nathan wants to counter with a clinch but Wallace pushes him away.
Nathan looks to score with a jab to the body but Wallace is just out of range.
Nathan throws a predictable looking body shot
and Wallace counters with a straight right hand.

Nathan closes the distance and pushes Wallace back into the cage.

Wallace breaks from the clinch.

Nathan darts in and clinches Wallace up against the cage.
Nathan stalls.
Wallace wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Wallace escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Wallace lands a jab to the nose.

Nathan closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Wallace pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Wallace misses with a lunging right hand
and Nathan counters with a lovely straight right hand!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Nathan lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Wallace has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Wallace and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Nathan has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Nathan tries to close the distance and clinch but Wallace swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
As Nathan looks to move away, Wallace throws a big counter combo but Nathan just gets out of the way.
Nathan swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
letting Wallace counter with a right hand.
Wallace misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Nathan closes the distance and clinches.
Wallace working hard to break the clinch.

Wallace breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Nathan throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Nathan takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Wallace takes one to the side of the head.
Nathan takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Nathan throws a leg kick that misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nathan doesn't manage to clinch there - Wallace circles away.
Wallace lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.


It looks like Ray Nathan has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Wallace misses with an uppercut
and Nathan counters with a low kick, right behind Wallace 's knee.
Wallace uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Nathan.
Wallace swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Nathan appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Wallace is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Nathan tries to clinch up.
Wallace keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Nathan ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Wallace throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Nathan sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Nathan uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Wallace.
Nathan tries to counter with a clinch but Wallace shakes him off and moves away.
Wallace throws a poor cross that misses
and Nathan counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Nathan is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Wallace rather than just go for the knockout.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nathan swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Wallace is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
The fight stays on the outside here - Nathan looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Wallace misses with a wild body shot.
A countering left hand to the body from Nathan misses.
Wallace connects with a right that clearly hurt Nathan. He's backed up against the cage with nowhere to go as Wallace proceeds to tee off with vicious combinations till Nathan collapses and taps out under the pressure!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). William Wallace!
