Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between De Forest Treadwell (ranked 951 p4p, 132 weight class) and Simon Gustafsson (ranked 2068 p4p, 256 weight class). Treadwell's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, God gave me style, I’m coming home mix. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Bruno Lombardi and Russell Pearce.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Treadwell throws out a loose jab but Gustafsson uses good head movement to avoid it.
Gustafsson tries to counter with a clinch but Treadwell shakes him off and moves away.

Treadwell darts in and clinches Gustafsson up against the cage.
Gustafsson is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Gustafsson drops down looking for an ankle pick but Treadwell pulls his leg out and moves away.
Gustafsson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Treadwell swivels and escapes.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Gustafsson has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Treadwell goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

Treadwell feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Gustafsson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

That was a close second round but I would say that De Forest Treadwell will probably get the nod.

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Gustafsson crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Treadwell - the referee stops the clock and Gustafsson gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Treadwell. Gustafsson manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Gustafsson.
Treadwell lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

That has opened up Simon Gustafsson's cut even more.

Treadwell throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Treadwell throws a series of punches but Gustafsson moves out of range.
The fighters circle momentarily. Treadwell darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Treadwell swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Gustafsson.
Treadwell jabs Gustafsson to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Treadwell walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Gustafsson drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Treadwell swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Gustafsson's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!

In his post fight interview, De Forest Treadwell started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
