PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mario Beasley (ranked 24803 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mandoki Daniel (ranked 4925 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Mario Beasley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Mandoki Daniel!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Sam Margolis and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Daniel misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Beasley tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Daniel manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Daniel closes the distance and pushes Beasley back into the cage.
Beasley tries to pull guard but Daniel holds him up against the cage and eventually Beasley drops back down to his feet.

Daniel successfully pulls guard.
Beasley stopping the sweep attempt from Daniel.
Beasley working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Beasley is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Daniel is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Daniel has escaped and now he's on top!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Daniel throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Beasley works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Daniel stays in close to Beasley's body and controls the position.
Daniel trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Daniel wants to control from the top but Beasley keeps moving.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Beasley is on top in guard.

Daniel is adopting a defensive guard.

Daniel is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Beasley stops a takedown attempt from Daniel.

Daniel manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Beasley throwing strikes from guard but Daniel blocks nicely.
Daniel wants to hit a switch here but Beasley passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Daniel there!
Daniel wants to control but Beasley is having none of it.

Beasley stops Daniel from getting back to his feet.

Daniel has a hand on Beasley's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Beasley takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Daniel regains half guard.
Daniel landing small, sideways elbows.
Daniel wants to control but Beasley is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Daniel is controlling Beasley's position as best he can from this difficult position.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Beasley seems to be looking for submissions.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Mandoki Daniel will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Beasley dives in and grabs Daniel's left leg, looking for a takedown. Daniel pushes down on Beasley's head and hops out.
Beasley misses with a takedown attempt - Daniel sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Daniel darts in looking for a takedown but Beasley gets double underhooks and turns Daniel into the cage.
Daniel fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

and Beasley counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Daniel is looking to stand back up but Beasley counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Daniel.
Mario Beasley has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mandoki Daniel.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.


Beasley is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Beasley stalling away here and it's allowed Daniel to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Beasley has gone for a leg lock! Daniel slips out almost immediately though and dives into Beasley's guard.

Beasley looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Beasley will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Daniel controlling from the top position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Beasley throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Beasley looking to control but Daniel passes into half guard.
Daniel not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Daniel stalling.
Daniel wants to lay and pray for a moment but Beasley keeps working.
Daniel should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Beasley keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Daniel throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Daniel trying to control from half guard but Beasley is working away.
Beasley is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Daniel gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Beasley manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Beasley looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Daniel stands and steps away. Beasley gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Beasley throws a series of punches but Daniel avoids them all with ease.
Daniel fails with a takedown attempt.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

and Beasley counters with a nice double leg into side control. Daniel won't be happy with that.

Daniel explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Mandoki Daniel will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Beasley is looking to counter with a shot to the body.

Daniel forces Beasley back against the cage and clinches.

Beasley jumps guard and drags Daniel to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Daniel slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Beasley is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Daniel is aware though and is defending well.
Mandoki Daniel has got the better of the ground game so far.

Daniel is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Beasley is working an open guard so Daniel takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Beasley leaves Daniel with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Beasley looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Beasley.
A head kick from Daniel lands but Beasley takes it in his stride.

Daniel lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Daniel dives in and grabs Beasley's left leg, looking for a takedown. Beasley pushes down on Daniel's head and hops out.
Daniel shoots in but Beasley avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Mario Beasley has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mandoki Daniel.
Daniel takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Beasley tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Daniel defends well and Beasley ends up having to push Daniel into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Beasley dives in and scores a takedown into Daniel's guard.

Daniel pushes Beasley off and gets back to his feet.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Beasley takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Daniel moves into range and clinches up with Beasley.
Daniel prevents the takedown attempt.
Daniel tries to pull guard but Beasley holds him up against the cage and eventually Daniel drops back down to his feet.
Beasley drops down looking for an ankle pick but Daniel pulls his leg out and moves away.
Daniel throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Beasley's waist but Beasley gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Daniel off to one side.
Mandoki Daniel seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Beasley moves into the clinch.

Daniel ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Daniel no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Daniel trying to keep a closed guard but Beasley is proving a slippery customer.
Beasley is working Daniel over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Daniel looking to hit a scissor sweep but Beasley is one step ahead there.

Beasley postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Daniel is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Beasley, into his guard.

Daniel won't allow Beasley to sweep him here.
Mario Beasley has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Mandoki Daniel is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Beasley looking for a guillotine here but Daniel defends easily.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mandoki Daniel comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Daniel has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
