PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between James Harrison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Curtis MacDougall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, James Harrison!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Curtis MacDougall!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, William Peck and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harrison tries to clinch up.
MacDougall misses with a head kick.
Harrison looks for a takedown but MacDougall sprawls well.
A head kick misses from MacDougall.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Harrison lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and MacDougall has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from MacDougall and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

MacDougall shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Harrison's guard.

MacDougall tries to free his leg and advance position but Harrison is retaining full guard.
Harrison knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for MacDougall on the ground.

MacDougall gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

MacDougall tries to bench press Harrison off him but Harrison keeps the position.

Harrison tries to move to full mount but MacDougall actually manages to regain half guard.

Harrison seems to be working for a kimura but MacDougall defends the submission attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

MacDougall looking for a guillotine here but Harrison defends easily.
MacDougall controls Harrison momentarily but Harrison frees himself.

MacDougall manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Harrison is breathing heavily.

MacDougall is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Harrison can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

MacDougall is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Harrison pulls his head out easily.

MacDougall pushes Harrison off and gets back to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

MacDougall feints and as Harrison raises his hands in defense, MacDougall changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

MacDougall stands up over Harrison, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Harrison wants to get back to his feet.

MacDougall is taking a breather. Harrison says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

MacDougall stands up and beckons Harrison to join him on the feet.

MacDougall lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.

MacDougall breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

so Harrison counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
James Harrison has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Curtis MacDougall.
MacDougall lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Harrison!

Curtis MacDougall showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

MacDougall looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
MacDougall is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
MacDougall controls Harrison momentarily but Harrison frees himself.

Let's hope that MacDougall has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The referee warns Harrison that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
