Calgrand's entrance music is Badlands - Bruce Springsteen. A fine choice. John has chosen Ali-A as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
John closes the distance looking to clinch

and Calgrand counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Calgrand is looking to advance position but John won't allow it.
Calgrand is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Calgrand is working for a kimura but John is defending it quite comfortably.
Calgrand with the ground and pound but John uses the opportunity to regain guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

John is trying to control the position but Calgrand postures up.

Calgrand slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

and John counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

John shoots in but Calgrand avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Calgrand looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

John kicks off Calgrand and gets to his feet.
Jihadi John seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
John misses with a takedown attempt

and Calgrand counters with a single leg into guard. John didn't expect that.
John wants to get back to his feet but Calgrand passes into half guard.
Kirk Calgrand has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jihadi John .

John is looking for a sweep. Calgrand is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
John keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

John is trying to get back to full guard.
Calgrand misses with a head shot. John uses the momentum to regain guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Calgrand has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
John is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Calgrand is staying active underneath John , who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Calgrand looking for a guillotine here but John defends easily.

Calgrand isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. John stacks Calgrand on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by John !

A close round but Jihadi John will probably get the nod.

John cracks Calgrand with a right hand to the side of the head.

It looks like Kirk Calgrand has been cut.
John keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
John fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Calgrand avoids it really well and circles away.
John has a takedown stuffed.

John lands a big head kick that sends Calgrand tumbling to the mat! John takes a step backwards and waves Calgrand back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Calgrand is rocked!
Calgrand fails to land the takedown.
John steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Calgrand.
Oh Calgrand is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
John tries a head kick but it misses.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

John wants to clinch up but Calgrand keeps it at a distance.
Calgrand is wiping some vaseline out of his eye. John doesn't give a rats ass about fair play and cracks him with a massive hook to the side of the head! Calgrand crumples to the floor out cold! The cornerman is going to be in Calgrand's bad books for that mishap!

Jihadi John spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
