Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Iye Shuman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Gibson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gibson has chosen St Anger- Metallica as his entrance music. Gibson has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Ryan Gibson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gibson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Gibson fails to land the takedown. Gibson looks gassed! Gibson works Shuman's body with a nice hook. Gibson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Shuman as he avoids it easily. Iye Shuman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryan Gibson. Shuman is looking to clinch but Gibson is avoiding it.
Shuman tries to clinch up. Shuman misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Shuman misses with a hook. Shuman is looking to slow Gibson down with leg kicks. Shuman is looking to clinch but Gibson is avoiding it.
Shuman fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Gibson, pushing him back against the cage. Shuman pulls guard. Shuman is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Shuman is working for a kimura but Gibson is defending it quite comfortably.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shuman wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gibson keeps working. Shuman with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Gibson is not content to let Shuman control the position. Shuman not doing much here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Shuman not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Gibson taking some punishment here, with Shuman in his half guard. Shuman is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Shuman uses his free foot to push down on Gibson's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Gibson. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. A nice elbow there by Shuman. Gibson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shuman looking to finish Gibson with some ground and pound. This is bad for Gibson! Shuman landing strikes from the mount. Gibson in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Shuman putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Gibson is squirming around, avoiding Shuman's attempts to control the action. Shuman lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Gibson takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Shuman tries to control but Gibson wriggling away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Shuman takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Gibson is bucking up trying to escape but Shuman cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Shuman stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing. Shuman throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
A slapping leg kick lands for Shuman.
Shuman bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Gibson's head backwards. Shuman wants to clinch up but Gibson keeps it at a distance. Shuman tries to close the distance and clinch but Gibson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Shuman scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Iye Shuman dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Shuman lands a two punch combo.
Shuman shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Shuman fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Gibson sprawls well initially but Shuman persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Gibson is staying active underneath Shuman, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Shuman landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Shuman frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Shuman controlling the position easily from mount. Gibson tries to get back to half guard but can't. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shuman lands a big elbow. Shuman can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Gibson is looking to escape. Shuman controlling his opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Gibson is trying to escape the mount.
Shuman is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Gibson has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Shuman landing punches.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shuman cracks Gibson with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Shuman landing strikes from the mount. Gibson tries to lock up and control but Shuman gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Shuman controlling the pace for now. Gibson is desperately trying to improve his position but Shuman has a good base and remains in mount. The referee warns Gibson that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Gibson is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Shuman locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Gibson is forced to tap!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:03 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Iye Shuman!
