Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Connor Rollins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, DeShawn West!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
West just misses with a punch to the body.

Rollins rushes West and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Rollins is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. West can't fight it off and eventually Rollins manages to take the fight to the floor. West looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Rollins postures up.
West looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Rollins has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Rollins wants to pass the guard but West is keeping the position.
West is pulling down on Rollins's head. It's preventing any offense from Rollins, at least for the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rollins stands up and waves to West to follow him.

West paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Rollins will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
DeShawn West is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Nice uppercut lands for West. That snapped Rollins's head back.

and West counters with a nice body shot.

and West counters with a left and a right that stings Rollins.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Rollins pushes West up against the cage in a clinch.
Rollins really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Rollins blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

West displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Rollins.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Connor Rollins. That's going to take a lot out of him.

West is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Rollins looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for West!

We've been hearing good reports from Rollins's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Rollins chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before West can pounce on him.
Rollins closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Rollins gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Rollins wants to clinch.
Rollins throws a nice inside leg kick.
West thuds his right hand into Rollins's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Rollins fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with West, pushing him back against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

DeShawn West dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


West scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Rollins takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by West.
West has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Rollins moves into the clinch successfully.
Rollins blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Rollins looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

West swings away with an uppercut that misses.
West tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

West slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Rollins looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
West looking to sit in guard and control but Rollins gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

West is trying to get back to full guard.
Rollins wants to take a breather but West is having none of it.

West is looking for a sweep. Rollins is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
West wants to sweep but Rollins has passed to side control!

Rollins stands up.
West lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

Rollins feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rollins wants to control from the top but West keeps moving.

Rollins decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Rollins ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



Rollins closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. West did well to prevent Rollins getting side control.

Rollins seems to be looking for submissions.
Rollins lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Rollins stands up out of the half guard.
West scores with a punch to the head.

Rollins closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Rollins lands in his opponent's guard.
Rollins is in close to West's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Rollins decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on West, up you get!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
West jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
West scores with a sloppy right hand. Rollins should have avoided that one.
Rollins drops his hands momentarily and West takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

West's corner calls for a 1-2. West obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
A punch lands to the side of Rollins 's head but he takes it in his stride.
No joy there for Rollins, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
West throws out a counter right but Rollins avoids it with no problem.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Rollins tries to bum rush West with a series of wild strikes but West uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Nice body punch from West.
West connects with the punch.
West chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Rollins scores with a hook.
West rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Rollins moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Rollins changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. West looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
You can see the frustration on West's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Rollins tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

West tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Rollins wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
West can't do much from the bottom here.
Rollins is looking to take a break and control but West is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Rollins looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Rollins stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Rollins fails with a takedown attempt.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

West bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Rollins's head.
Rollins takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

Rollins takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Rollins takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

DeShawn West comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think West has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
