Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kriz Naiz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bochamp Smathers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bochamp Smathers!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Yuuki Gou and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Naiz decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Naiz is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Smathers keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Naiz throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Smathers can do anything to dispel that myth.

Smathers really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Naiz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Naiz lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Smathers circles away quickly and effectively.

and Naiz counters with a shoot takedown. Smathers fights it but they end up in guard.
Naiz throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Smathers works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Naiz seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Smathers for as long as he can get away with.

Smathers misses with the combination.
No joy there for Smathers, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Smathers rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Naiz moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Naiz feints and as Smathers raises his hands in defense, Naiz changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Naiz throwing strikes but missing.
Naiz stays in close to Smathers's body and controls the position.
Naiz postures up and lands a big shot to Smathers's brow.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smathers takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Naiz is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Naiz works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Naiz missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Well, if Naiz is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Naiz lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Naiz thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Smathers's head.

Naiz thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Naiz looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Naiz controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Naiz might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Naiz throwing strikes from guard but Smathers blocks nicely.

Naiz passes into half guard.
Naiz is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Smathers can do to turn this around?
Naiz working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Bochamp Smathers has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Naiz lands a nice short elbow.
Naiz content to control rather than advance.
Naiz frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Well Naiz has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
