PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jamie Bowen (ranked 7127 p4p, 0 weight class) and Malcolm Urlich (ranked 24990 p4p, 0 weight class). Urlich has chosen I Fink U Freaky as his entrance music. Malcolm Urlich will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jamie Bowen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Malcolm Urlich!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Francis DeMontford and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bowen swats away the attempt to clinch by Urlich.
Urlich looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Urlich wants to clinch up but Bowen keeps it at a distance.
As Urlich tries to get set, Bowen tries to push him back and clinch up but Urlich manages to avoid the attempt.
Urlich is looking to clinch.
Bowen could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Urlich misses with a leg kick.
Bowen avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Urlich tries to clinch up but Bowen circles away and keeps his distance.

An attempted straight right counter from Bowen misses the target.
Urlich tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Bowen manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bowen keeps the fight on the outside.
The fight stays on the outside here - Urlich looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Bowen went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Bowen closes the distance and pushes Urlich back into the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Bowen creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Urlich gets underhooks to prevent Bowen's takedown attempt.
Urlich is trying to pull guard but Bowen turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Urlich is pressed up against the cage. Bowen has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Urlich down to the mat. Urlich avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Urlich tries to clinch but Bowen moves out of range.
Bowen is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Urlich.

Urlich cracks Bowen with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Bowen looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Urlich finish him?


Bowen is rocked!


It looks like Jamie Bowen has been cut.
Urlich feints and then cracks Bowen's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Bowen down.
Oh Bowen is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Urlich has managed to clinch.
Urlich gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Bowen.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jamie Bowen. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Bowen seems to have got his legs back now.
Bowen has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Urlich avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Bowen wants to stall.
Urlich softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Bowen tries for a takedown. No joy.
Urlich throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Bowen is breathing heavily.
Urlich working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Urlich is looking to land a big knee to finish this one. He's got control of the head and as Bowen tries to break Urlich's hands from around his neck, Urlich unloads with that fight ending knee, right up the middle! Oh man, that was nasty! Bowen will need to get back to the training room and learn how to defend against the thai clinch! Oooh, his nose is a mess. Hopefully it's not broken.
