Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Gu Mer!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Sosuke Kotani and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Mer's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mer accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Delaney is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Mer throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Delaney works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Mer prevents Delaney from getting back to his feet.
Delaney thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Mer stands up from Delaney's guard - Mer perhaps looking for a knockout.

Mer shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Delaney manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Delaney wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Mer manages to pass to side control.

Mer thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Mer missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Delaney keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Mer in particular looking to stall.
Mer throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Delaney is staying active underneath Mer, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Mer has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Mer stalling away here and it's allowed Delaney to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Delaney lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Mer not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Mer had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Delaney defends it easily.

Mer is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Delaney is aware though and is defending well.

Delaney drops back looking for a leg! Mer is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Mer manages to kick Delaney off! Delaney jumps back into Mer's guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Mer scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Gu Mer showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's time! Back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Delaney keeps the fight on the outside.

Mer throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Delaney was covering up waiting for the punch and Mer finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Mer is standing up over Delaney. Delaney looks to escape but Mer dives into side control.

Poor strikes thrown by Mer there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Delaney avoids a strike by Mer and manages to complete a very nice reversal in the process, to end up in Mer's guard! Fantastic escape!

Mer is looking to sweep but instead, Delaney has passed into half guard.
Delaney wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mer keeps working.
Mer is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Delaney's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Delaney's back!
