PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Denis Mamaev (ranked 1850 p4p, 234 weight class) and Lenny Kowalski (ranked 3558 p4p, 364 weight class). Mamaev kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is 30 Seconds To Mars - Hurricane. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Denis Mamaev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Lenny Kowalski!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Radbod Blank and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A swing and a miss from Kowalski.
Mamaev blocks a leg kick.
Donk. Mamaev catches Kowalski right on the button with a cross.
Denis Mamaev seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kowalski goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

Kowalski might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Mamaev haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Mamaev is trying to control Kowalski's posture but Kowalski avoids it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kowalski is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Mamaev knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

A looping hook to the body misses from Mamaev. Kowalski does a little dance to reset his feet.
A little jabbing left from Kowalski on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

and Kowalski counters with a head kick. That will keep Mamaev thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Mamaev takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Kowalski misses with a takedown attempt - Mamaev sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

It appears Mamaev was looking to counter with a kick there.

Kowalski chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Mamaev can pounce on him.
Mamaev pivots, looking for a leg kick but Kowalski is out of range and Mamaev settles back down.

Mamaev fails to land with a series of punches.
Mamaev throws a nice looking combination but Kowalski bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kowalski moves forwards but Mamaev connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Mamaev lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Kowalski has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Kowalski and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Kowalski is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent.

Mamaev throws a quick head kick that knocks Kowalski silly! This fight is all over! What a finish! Mamaev is up on the cage, taking in the applause from the crowd.
