PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ispa Murhapuro (ranked 885 p4p, 39 weight class) and Augusto Pinochet (ranked 532 p4p, 21 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Augusto Pinochet was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ispa Murhapuro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Augusto Pinochet!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Patrick Alders and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Murhapuro closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Pinochet jumps guard but Murhapuro turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Pinochet looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Pinochet jumps guard but Murhapuro stands there with Pinochet around his waist. Pinochet gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Murhapuro drags the fight down to the ground.

Murhapuro working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Pinochet doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Pinochet manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pinochet wants to control from the top but Murhapuro keeps moving.
We've been hearing good reports from Murhapuro's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Murhapuro will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pinochet slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Murhapuro escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pinochet gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Murhapuro is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Pinochet defends well.
Pinochet wants to control from the top but Murhapuro keeps moving.
Murhapuro wants to sweep here but Pinochet controlling him for the moment.
Pinochet slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Pinochet wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Murhapuro, who protects the arm well.
Murhapuro is not content to let Pinochet control the position.

Pinochet is trying to get an arm triangle but Murhapuro is defending well.

Pinochet is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Murhapuro is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Murhapuro tries to bench press Pinochet off him but Pinochet keeps the position.
Pinochet wants to lay and pray for a moment but Murhapuro keeps working.
Pinochet advances to mount.
Murhapuro keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Murhapuro tries to hold on but Pinochet pushes him away.
Murhapuro is desperately trying to improve his position but Pinochet has a good base and remains in mount.
Pinochet avoids the attempt from Murhapuro to control.
Pinochet wants to take Murhapuro's back but he can't do it this time.

Pinochet is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Murhapuro is surviving well by controlling Pinochet's body position as best he can.
Murhapuro is trying to escape the mount but Pinochet keeps good control and instead manages to take Murhapuro's back.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Pinochet controlling well, preventing Murhapuro from escaping the position.

Pinochet is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Murhapuro knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Murhapuro for a finish.

Murhapuro tries to escape but Pinochet has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

Pinochet has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Murhapuro! Can he survive? No! He's out! Pinochet gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Augusto Pinochet!
Augusto Pinochet spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
