Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Steve Arenas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bob Sanchez!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Edson Gomes and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sanchez is looking to clinch but Arenas is avoiding it.
Sanchez tries to clinch but Arenas is having none of it.

Arenas closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Sanchez to the mat! Sanchez manages to get full guard.
Arenas not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Arenas gets to his feet. Sanchez looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Sanchez gets caught flat footed, as Arenas shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Arenas stays in close to Sanchez's body and controls the position.
Arenas is pushing down on Sanchez's leg trying to pass to half guard. Sanchez is fighting to maintain full guard but Arenas has managed to sneak the leg through.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sanchez is trying to stand back up but Arenas is controlling him
Arenas is taking a breather. Sanchez says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Arenas decides to return to a standing position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Sanchez moves in looking to clinch but Arenas pushes him off.
Horrible takedown by Arenas or perhaps it was just good defense by Sanchez which made him look bad.
Arenas tries to clinch but Sanchez moves out of range.
Sanchez clinches but Arenas breaks the clinch

and Arenas counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Arenas controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Sanchez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Arenas. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Arenas has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Arenas decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Sanchez, up you get!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Steve Arenas dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


The fight stays on the outside here - Arenas looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Well, if Arenas is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Arenas in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Sanchez tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Arenas!
