Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between RAFAEL DIAS (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tapoi Gand (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, RAFAEL DIAS!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tapoi Gand!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Seu Braga and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gand throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

DIAS shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Gand wants to sweep here but DIAS controlling him for the moment.
DIAS tries to free his leg and advance position but Gand is retaining full guard.

DIAS is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
DIAS could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Gand lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for DIAS!
Gand blocks DIAS's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.

DIAS keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Gand looks gassed!
DIAS sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
DIAS regains full guard. Nicely done.

DIAS is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

DIAS has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gand can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
DIAS wants to sweep here but Gand controlling him for the moment.
Gand looking to sit in guard and control but DIAS gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

DIAS stands up and waves to Gand to follow him.

Gand tries for a takedown but DIAS circles away easily

and DIAS counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Gand is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
DIAS controlling the action here.

DIAS escapes and gets back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Gand shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

DIAS has closed the distance and engaged Gand in a clinch.

DIAS is trying to trip Gand. He has hold of a leg but Gand is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. DIAS persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

DIAS stands up and waves to Gand to follow him.
Gand shoots and misses

and DIAS counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by DIAS.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Gand striking off his back but it's not causing DIAS any problems.
DIAS missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

DIAS lands a two punch combo.
DIAS lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.


It looks like Tapoi Gand has been cut.
DIAS scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

DIAS closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
DIAS frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Gand is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Gand is wriggling around trying to escape.
RAFAEL DIAS overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

DIAS looking to secure an arm triangle but Gand defends it well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
DIAS wants to control the pace but Gand is squirming around nicely.

Gand is looking to improve his position but DIAS isn't that keen on the idea.
DIAS trying to control but he's not successful this time.
DIAS cracks Gand with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Gand is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
DIAS in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
DIAS looking to control and managing it successfully.
DIAS lands a big elbow.
DIAS punishing his opponent with strikes.
Gand is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Gand is looking to get to half guard.
Gand is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

DIAS is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

DIAS bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Gand tries to bench press DIAS off him but DIAS keeps the position.

DIAS decides to stand back up. DIAS steps back and let's Gand get back to his feet.

DIAS shoots in looking for a takedown. Gand tries to sprawl out of it but DIAS keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Gand manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
RAFAEL DIAS is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Gand tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and DIAS counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Gand wants to get back to his feet.
DIAS is thwarting Gand's attempts to control the position.
DIAS with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Gand has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. DIAS is working away from the top position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

RAFAEL DIAS dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on Tapoi Gand's cut.
That's time! DIAS's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Gand misses with a takedown
and DIAS counters with a nice body kick.
DIAS connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Gand takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
DIAS scores with a one two! Gand had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

DIAS shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. DIAS showed some decent athleticism there.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Gand wants to control but DIAS is keeping busy.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Gand tries to get to full guard but DIAS has control of the leg.

DIAS stands up from half guard.

DIAS scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
DIAS wants to take a breather but Gand is having none of it.
Gand works his way to full guard. Good work.
Gand lands a couple of decent looking body shots there.
DIAS trying to control but Gand is working from the bottom.
Gand trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

DIAS decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Gand fails with the takedown

and DIAS counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Gand throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Gand trying to keep a closed guard but DIAS is proving a slippery customer.
Gand looking to hit a scissor sweep but DIAS is one step ahead there.
DIAS is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Gand can do to turn this around?

DIAS controlling from the top position.
DIAS trying to control the position from guard on top but Gand is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Gand controls DIAS momentarily but DIAS frees himself.
DIAS controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
DIAS stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gand swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

DIAS forces Gand back against the cage and clinches.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Gand is looking to control DIAS's arms but DIAS gets an underhook and turns him. Now Gand has his back to the cage.

DIAS breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

DIAS shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Tapoi Gand has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
RAFAEL DIAS is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Gand really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

And that's the end of the fight!
RAFAEL DIAS showed his dominance in that final round.
Well DIAS has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
