Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Eljero Madsen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Boesha Smickers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Madsen shoots in looking for a takedown. Smickers tries to sprawl out of it but Madsen keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Smickers manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Madsen shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Smickers as he jumps to the side. Madsen shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Smickers keeping full guard, as Madsen tries to pass. Madsen might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Smickers working a defensive guard here.

That's one minute gone in the round. Madsen wants to pass the guard but Smickers is keeping the position. Madsen controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Smickers really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Madsen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Smickers wants to sweep here but Madsen controlling him for the moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Smickers is looking to sweep but instead, Madsen has passed into half guard.
Madsen throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Smickers is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Smickers shoots and misses and Madsen counters with a single leg into guard. Smickers didn't expect that. Smickers is working an open guard so Madsen takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Smickers tries to clinch up and Madsen counters with a nice double leg into guard. Madsen thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Madsen is breathing heavily. Madsen preventing the sweep.

Madsen fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Smickers closes the distance but Madsen moves to the side and Madsen counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Smickers! Madsen is standing up, even though he is in mount. Madsen changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Smickers tries to avoid it but Madsen manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Smickers to the ground. Smickers escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Smickers with a poor takedown and Madsen counters with a single leg into guard. Smickers didn't expect that. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Madsen would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Madsen is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Smickers is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Smickers has escaped and now he's on top!
That's one minute gone in the round. Smickers passes easily into side control. Nice work. Smickers wants to control but Madsen is keeping him busy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Smickers tries to advance to mount but Madsen denies him. Smickers working away. Smickers wants to control but Madsen is keeping him busy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Madsen can't do much from the bottom here. Madsen dodges the ground and pound from Smickers. Smickers working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Smickers wants to clinch up but Madsen keeps it at a distance.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Smickers closes the distance but Madsen moves to the side and Madsen counters with a shoot takedown. Smickers fights it but they end up in guard. Madsen stands up from Smickers's guard - Madsen perhaps looking for a knockout. Madsen looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Eljero Madsen. That's going to take a lot out of him. Madsen circles away from the clinch attempt.
Smickers darts in trying to clinch and Madsen decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Smickers's guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Madsen stopping the sweep attempt from Smickers. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Madsen shoots for a takedown but Smickers saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Madsen shoots in for a takedown but Smickers shows good takedown defense. Madsen closes the distance and clinches up with Smickers, looking for a takedown. Madsen pushes Smickers against the cage but Smickers circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Eljero Madsen. That's going to take a lot out of him. Smickers keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
The fight stays on the outside here - Smickers looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Madsen stuffs the takedown attempt from Smickers. Smickers gets slowly back to his feet. That's one minute gone in the round. Madsen is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Smickers has escaped the position, nice work there. You can see the frustration on Smickers's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Smickers is looking for a sweep.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Madsen wants to control but Smickers is keeping him busy. Madsen tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Smickers sneaks back into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smickers is staying active underneath Madsen, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Smickers throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Smickers throws a head kick that Madsen semi-blocks.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Smickers with a lazy takedown attempt and Madsen counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Smickers looking for a sweep. Not yet Smickers, not yet. Madsen wants to control from the top but Smickers keeps moving. Smickers is trying to control the position but Madsen postures up.
And that's the end of the fight! Eljero Madsen showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Madsen, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
