Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Motu Te Tai (ranked 5794 p4p, 493 weight class) and Trevor Tremblay (ranked 3692 p4p, 0 weight class). Motu Te Tai could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Trevor Tremblay's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Motu Te Tai!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 17 - 0, fighting out of New York, Trevor Tremblay!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Lou da Vinci and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tremblay misses with a body shot.
Te Tai takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Tremblay dodges the punch combination from Te Tai.
Te Tai shoots in for a double leg but Tremblay sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Tremblay closes the distance looking to clinch
and Te Tai counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Tremblay rushes Te Tai and presses him up against the cage.

Tremblay manages to pull guard.
Te Tai won't allow Tremblay to get back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tremblay utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Tremblay wants to stand but Te Tai is controlling the position.
Te Tai has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Tremblay is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Te Tai gets to his feet. Tremblay looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Tremblay has managed to clinch.

Te Tai manages to break the clinch.
Tremblay throws a looping overhand right but Te Tai ducks down to avoid it.
Tremblay tries to clinch but Te Tai moves out of range.
Trevor Tremblay is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Te Tai can't get the takedown.

Te Tai escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Tremblay pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Tremblay fails in his attempt to clinch.
Tremblay misses with a hook to the body

and Te Tai counters by moving into the clinch.
Tremblay doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Te Tai keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Tremblay's efforts to push away.
Tremblay gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Te Tai.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Motu Te Tai. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Te Tai prevents a takedown attempt there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Tremblay turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Tremblay manages to end up in side control.

Te Tai sneaks out the side door and pushes Tremblay away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Te Tai throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Tremblay's waist but Tremblay gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Te Tai off to one side.
Tremblay tries to clinch but Te Tai is having none of it.

Tremblay clinches up with Te Tai and pushes him back against the cage.
Te Tai works on Tremblay's body with a couple of short punches.

Tremblay jumps guard and drags Te Tai to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Te Tai trying to control but Tremblay is working from the bottom.
Te Tai knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Tremblay on the ground.
Tremblay is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Te Tai is controlling him.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Te Tai wants to control from the top but Tremblay keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Te Tai tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Tremblay defends well and Te Tai ends up having to push Tremblay into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Tremblay misses with a wild combination.
A slapping leg kick lands for Tremblay.

Te Tai has Tremblay up against the cage in a clinch.
Te Tai is pressed up against the cage. Tremblay has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Te Tai down to the mat. Te Tai avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Te Tai gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Te Tai has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Tremblay avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Tremblay pulls Te Tai into guard.

Te Tai gets to his feet. Tremblay looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Te Tai shoots in and bounces Tremblay off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Tremblay wants to get back to his feet but Te Tai is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Te Tai decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Tremblay, up you get!

Te Tai tries for a takedown but Tremblay sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Tremblay on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Motu Te Tai will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

and Te Tai counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.


Tremblay is rocked!
Motu Te Tai is winning the standup battle so far.
Tremblay takes a swing at Te Tai's ribcage but misses.
Tremblay is still on wobbly legs! Can Te Tai finish him?
Te Tai feints a jab and as Tremblay dips his head, Te Tai unleashes a brutal head kick that catches Tremblay right on the jaw! Timbeeer! Tremblay falls backwards in slow motion, only propped up by the cage! Te Tai smiles a psychotic smile as he stares down his unconscious opponent. That is a scary man.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:15 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Motu Te Tai!
