Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Connar Cage (ranked 2867 p4p, 312 weight class) and Marcus Harris (ranked 22716 p4p, 552 weight class). Connar Cage has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Connar Cage! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 9 - 1, fighting out of New York, Marcus Harris! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cage fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Harris avoids it really well and circles away. Harris throws a counter combo. Cage will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Harris throws a series of punches but Cage avoids them all with ease. Connar Cage seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Cage dives in for a single leg takedown but Harris sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Connar Cage. That's going to take a lot out of him. Cage tries for a takedown but Harris sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cage misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Harris now looks to counter with a shot at the body. Cage moves in looking to clinch but Harris pushes him off. Cage misses with a takedown attempt - Harris sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Harris with the counter takedown but Cage avoids it easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cage drives through with a takedown into guard. Cage lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Cage pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Harris is keeping the position for now. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Cage accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Harris is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Cage throws a big elbow that misses. Cage trying to control but Harris is working from the bottom. Cage is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cage is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Harris throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Cage is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Harris tries to land a sweep but no joy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Harris escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Cage gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Cage wants to control from the top but Harris keeps moving.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. No luck for Cage with that takedown attempt. Cage scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Cage wants to take a breather but Harris is having none of it. Harris is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Cage pulls his head out easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Harris is refusing to be controlled, as Cage sits in half guard. Cage sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Harris defending well though. Harris holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. Cage prevents Harris from improving his position. Harris taking some punishment here, with Cage in his half guard. Harris really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cage. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Cage blocks the strikes from Harris.

That was a close round but I would say that Connar Cage will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action!

and Harris counters with a stiff right hand. Harris wants to clinch. Harris keeps the fight on the outside. Harris swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Cage looks to clinch and Harris counters with a straight punch to the midsection. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Harris drops his hands momentarily and Cage takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Cage fails with an attempt to clinch.
Harris fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Cage, pushing him back against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Harris's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Cage fails with the takedown and Harris counters with a lovely shot to the body. Nice sprawl there from Harris as Cage shoots in. We've been informed that Harris has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Cage displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Harris. Cage misses with a takedown attempt - Harris sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Connar Cage. That's going to take a lot out of him. Harris leaves Cage with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Cage shoots in but Harris avoids the takedown attempt easily. It seemed like Harris was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Harris keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Cage shoots in but Harris avoids the takedown attempt easily. Harris doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Cage shoots for a double leg takedown but Harris sprawls well. He's pushed Cage's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Harris is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Harris swats away the attempt to clinch by Cage. Harris swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Cage fails with a takedown attempt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cage throws a sloppy head kick and Harris connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Harris darts in and clinches Cage up against the cage. Harris escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Cage misses with a looping right. Cage is looking to clinch. Cage shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Harris sprawls well. Harris wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Cage gets slowly back to his feet. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Cage fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Harris avoids it really well and circles away. Harris is looking for the big counter here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Marcus Harris showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Cage's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Horrible takedown attempt by Cage or perhaps it was just good defense by Harris, which made it look bad. Cage swinging wildly here.

Cage shoots in for a takedown but Harris shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Harris is looking for the big counter here. Nice uppercut lands for Harris. That snapped Cage's head back.
Harris darts in and clinches Cage up against the cage. Harris manages to break the clinch.
Cage takes the fight into the clinch. Harris gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Cage.

He has hold of a leg but Cage is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Harris persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Cage has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Harris off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

He's got his arms around Harris's waist but Harris gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cage off to one side. Harris changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Cage fails with an attempt to clinch.

Harris gets a trip takedown into half guard. Cage scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Harris manages to mount him!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cage wants to control but Harris is having none of it. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Harris looking to control and managing it successfully. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cage is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cage with a jab. Harris blocks a leg kick. Harris bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Cage tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Harris wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. A control attempt from Cage but he's now mounted! Cage manages to regain half guard. Good work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cage wants to control but Harris is keeping busy.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Harris takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Cage throws a wild body kick that Harris sees coming a mile off. Harris unleashes a big counter combination but Cage bobs and weaves and avoids any damage. Cage looking to score a takedown here. Harris is defending well but Cage drives through and ends up in Harris's guard. Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - a gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Harris keeping moving, preventing Cage from controlling successfully. Harris striking off his back but it's not causing Cage any problems. Harris has his foot on Cage's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Cage works his way back into a safe position though. Harris punching from the bottom - just letting Cage know he's still in a fight. Cage stays in close to Harris's body and controls the position. Harris wants to get back to his feet but Cage is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Cage scoring with punches to the head and body.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Harris throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Cage escapes and throws Harris's legs to the side, diving into side control! Cage wants to control but Harris is keeping him busy. Harris tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Cage wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Connar Cage overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Cage trying to control the action but Harris is working from the bottom. Cage stands up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Cage fails with a takedown attempt. Marcus Harris is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Cage shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Harris but Harris pushes him off and we're back to square one. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Connar Cage. I think Harris has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
