Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Kalvin Harper! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mark Callus! The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Anthony Taglia and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Harper fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Callus sprawls well initially but Harper persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Callus wants to get back to his feet.
Harper is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Callus is looking to escape. Harper is figuring out what he wants to do next. Callus wants to get back to his feet. Harper is nestled in close to Callus, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Callus pushes Harper off looking to stand but Harper dives back in and keeps control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Harper is taking a breather. Callus says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nice strikes from Harper there. Harper content to control rather than advance. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Harper prevents Callus from standing back up.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Harper fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Callus let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Harper takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Kalvin Harper seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Harper shoots and misses and Callus counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Harper. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kalvin Harper. That's going to take a lot out of him. A momentary lapse in concentration from Callus enables Harper to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Callus manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Harper postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Callus wants to stand but Harper is controlling the position. Harper controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Harper keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Callus's head. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Callus wants to stand but Harper is controlling the position. Harper engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kalvin Harper dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Harper gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Callus counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Harper is trying hard to land a takedown here. Callus sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Callus. A nice combination there by Callus.
Harper misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kalvin Harper. That's going to take a lot out of him. Harper shoots in for a double leg but Callus sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Harper goes for a double leg but Callus avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Callus continues to drive forward. Callus has managed to clinch.
Callus breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Harper shoots for a double leg takedown but Callus sprawls well. He's pushed Harper's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Harper seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Callus fails with an attempt to clinch.
Callus has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Harper is landing a low percentage of strikes. Harper gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Callus counters with a lovely shot to the body. Kalvin Harper is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Harper shoots in looking for a takedown but Callus manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Harper's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Harper darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Harper prevents Callus from standing back up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Harper slows the pace down in half guard. Callus kicks off Harper and gets to his feet. Harper shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Callus manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Kalvin Harper overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Harper sitting in guard, not really doing much. Callus pushes Harper off and scrambles back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Harper closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Callus did well to prevent Harper getting side control. Callus has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Harper is on him like a limpet, forcing Callus back against the cage. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Harper tries to pull guard but Callus won't allow it.
Harper has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Callus after a bit of a struggle. Callus dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage. Callus manages to break the clinch.
Harper tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Callus defends well and Harper ends up having to push Callus into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Callus tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Callus wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Callus tries to clinch but Harper is having none of it. The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Harper swats away the attempt to clinch by Callus. A left lands for Callus. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mark Callus showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Callus shoots in looking for a takedown but Harper manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Callus's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Harper bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Callus is trying to get back to his feet. Harper controlling the position from side mount. Callus pushes Harper away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Harper gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Callus is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Harper controls the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Callus wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Harper lands a decent elbow from side control. Harper has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Callus!
That's one minute gone in the round. Harper lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Harper lands a couple of good shots and Callus has given up his back, trying to escape the position! Good control from Harper. Callus takes a big shot to the side of the head.
Callus is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet. Harper really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Callus. Callus trying to get back to his feet but Harper is in full control for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Harper cracks Callus with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Callus from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.
