PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sergey Burenkov (ranked 1598 p4p, 192 weight class) and Chief Slayer (ranked 6312 p4p, 516 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Sergey Burenkov has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Sergey Burenkov seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Good exchange - Burenkov coming out on top.
Slayer cracks Burenkov with a right hand to the side of the head.

We've been hearing reports that Burenkov has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Slayer told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Slayer drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Burenkov manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Slayer has Burenkov in his guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Slayer can't keep his opponent in guard - Burenkov advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Burenkov prevents Slayer from improving his position.
Slayer is not content to let Burenkov control the position.
Burenkov with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Burenkov tries to pass to full mount but Slayer defends it.
Burenkov wants to lay and pray for a moment but Slayer keeps working.

Slayer is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Burenkov pulls his head out easily.

Burenkov is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Burenkov is pressing down on Slayer's thigh, looking to free his foot. Slayer is holding on for now.

Burenkov looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Burenkov avoids the head kick by Slayer.
Burenkov avoids a punch combination nicely.
It looked like Burenkov was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Slayer.
Burenkov fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Slayer avoids it really well and circles away.
The fighters circle momentarily. Burenkov darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Slayer takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Burenkov is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Slayer can do to turn this around?
Slayer avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Slayer misses with a wild body shot.
Burenkov throws a one two combo.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Burenkov shoots in for a takedown but Slayer shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Burenkov, as that shot connected.
Slayer scores with a decent looking hook.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Slayer throws a big shot that misses.
Slayer clobbers Burenkov with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Slayer swings for the body but Burenkov moves out of range.

Burenkov ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Slayer throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Burenkov sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Burenkov throws a one two combo.
A jab from Slayer does it's job there.


Burenkov is rocked!
Slayer cracks Burenkov on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Burenkov falls backwards against the cage. Slayer follows up with more strikes that drop Burenkov to his knees. Slayer keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Burenkov! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Chief Slayer!
