Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Arnao Cacho! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Don Dela Cruz! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Frank Dennis and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cacho gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Dela Cruz is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Cacho manages to break the clinch.
Cacho is looking to land body kicks. Dela Cruz has his takedown stuffed and Cacho counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Dela Cruz gets tackled into the cage by Cacho. Cacho maintains the clinch. Cacho is defending well against a takedown attempt. Arnao Cacho has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Don Dela Cruz. Cacho displaying some good clinch control by pressing Dela Cruz up against the cage. Dela Cruz is working for takedown but Cacho is calmly controlling the position for now. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cacho pulls guard successfully.
Cacho wants to stand up but Dela Cruz is controlling him. Cacho keeping full guard, as Dela Cruz tries to pass.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dela Cruz has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Cacho is proving hard to escape from. Cacho is trying to control the position but Dela Cruz postures up. Dela Cruz pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Cacho is keeping the position for now. Cacho is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Cacho wants to sweep but no luck.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Don Dela Cruz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Cacho closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Dela Cruz quickly recovers to half guard. Cacho throwing shots but Dela Cruz is blocking nicely. Dela Cruz gets back to full guard.
Cacho has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dela Cruz is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Cacho sitting in guard doing not very much at all here. Dela Cruz doesn't need a second invitation though! He's locked up a guillotine and he's squeezing tight! That is tiiiiiiiiight! Cacho paying the price for stalling here - he's pushing hard on the arm trying to free himself but it's no use! He's tapped! WOW, quick submission from Dela Cruz - great work!
