Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Abdul Vance! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Darrel Roscoe! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Emerson Jorge and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vance tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Roscoe manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Roscoe fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Vance sprawls well initially but Roscoe persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Vance pushes Roscoe off and gets back to his feet. Vance could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Vance gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Vance has his feet on Roscoe's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Roscoe throws a leg kick that misses. Vance is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Vance closes the distance and clinches. Vance blocks an elbow strike.
That's one minute gone in the round. Roscoe manages to break the clinch.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Vance enables Roscoe to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Vance manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Vance has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Roscoe is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Vance pulls Roscoe in close to his closed guard and prevents Roscoe from doing any damage or advancing position. Roscoe tries to free his leg and advance position but Vance is retaining full guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Roscoe shoots in and bounces Vance off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Vance kicks Roscoe off and gets to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Roscoe fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Vance to the ground. Roscoe is now in Vance's guard. Vance pushes Roscoe off and gets back to his feet.
Vance shoots in for a takedown but Roscoe shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Roscoe gets a double leg takedown into Vance's guard. Roscoe with a flurry of punches that miss. Roscoe showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Roscoe wants to control from the top but Vance keeps moving.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Roscoe is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Vance wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Roscoe must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Vance wants to get back to his feet but Roscoe is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Vance utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Roscoe feints and as Vance raises his hands in defense, Roscoe changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Roscoe passes Vance's left leg - he's now in half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Abdul Vance will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Vance pushes Roscoe up against the cage in a clinch. Vance has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Roscoe missing with knees to the body.
Roscoe manages to break the clinch.
Roscoe moves into range and clinches up with Vance. Vance's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Vance takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Roscoe has Vance up against the cage in a clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round. Roscoe turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Roscoe manages to end up in side control. Roscoe trying to control the action but Vance is working from the bottom. Roscoe misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Vance can't do much from the bottom here. Roscoe taking a break here but Vance is having none of it and regains half guard. Roscoe throwing shots but Vance is blocking nicely.

Vance regains full guard. Nicely done. Roscoe pushing down on Vance's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Roscoe perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vance blocking the ground and pound attempt from Roscoe. Roscoe is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Vance desperately trying to maintain half guard. Roscoe controlling the action here.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Vance misses with a takedown letting Roscoe counter with a right hand. Roscoe gets the takedown into side control. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Vance tries to improve position but can't. Roscoe working away. Roscoe is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Vance will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Roscoe working the head and body with strikes. A lull in the action here as Roscoe stalls from top position. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Darrel Roscoe showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! And we move into the final round!
Vance looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Roscoe is fending him off so far but Vance persists. Nope, Roscoe circles away and we're back to standing. Roscoe was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind. Roscoe feints and as Vance raises his hands in defense, Roscoe changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Roscoe lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Roscoe would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Vance is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Roscoe not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Roscoe with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Vance escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Roscoe gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Roscoe is looking to stand up but Vance won't let him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Roscoe wants to stand and escape but instead Vance has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Roscoe had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Vance defends it easily. Roscoe looking for a sweep. Not yet Roscoe, not yet. Roscoe will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Darrel Roscoe has got the better of the ground game so far. Roscoe is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Roscoe takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Vance trying to control but Roscoe is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Vance being controlled here momentarily. Roscoe not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Roscoe. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man. Roscoe working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Vance doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Vance manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Vance working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Vance misses with a takedown attempt - Roscoe sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Roscoe swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vance tries to sprawl but Roscoe drives through with a takedown into half guard. Vance pushes Roscoe off and gets back to his feet. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Roscoe is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
