Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Alex Novoselic (ranked 2269 p4p, 270 weight class) and Joseph Telushikin (ranked 4140 p4p, 0 weight class). Novoselic's entrance music is The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here - Alice in Chains. A fine choice. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alex Novoselic!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joseph Telushikin!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Gwen Towbar and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Telushikin blocks a head kick by Novoselic.
Novoselic fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Telushikin closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Telushikin lands in his opponent's guard.

Telushikin is working for a kimura but Novoselic is defending it quite comfortably.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Telushikin looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Telushikin wants to control but Novoselic is keeping him busy.
Novoselic is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Novoselic is refusing to be controlled, as Telushikin sits in half guard.

Telushikin is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Novoselic defends it well.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Telushikin takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Telushikin looking to control but Novoselic is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Telushikin lands a couple of good shots and Novoselic has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Novoselic is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Novoselic looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Novoselic fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Telushikin checks it well.

Novoselic gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Telushikin to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Novoselic working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Telushikin doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Telushikin manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Telushikin shoots in looking for a takedown but Novoselic manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Telushikin's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Telushikin shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Novoselic as he avoids it easily.

Novoselic thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Telushikin if he has to take too many more of those.
Horrible takedown attempt by Telushikin or perhaps it was just good defense by Novoselic, which made it look bad.
Telushikin takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

And an attempted straight right on the counter from Telushikin! But no joy.

Telushikin misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Novoselic dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Telushikin. That did some damage!

and Novoselic cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Novoselic will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Novoselic is looking to control Telushikin's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Novoselic avoid being mounted?
Novoselic holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Telushikin looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Novoselic has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Telushikin is working away from the top position though.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Novoselic's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!

Telushikin takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Telushikin shoots for a double leg takedown but Novoselic sprawls well. He's pushed Telushikin's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

and Novoselic counters with a nice uppercut.
Telushikin uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Novoselic.

Novoselic throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Telushikin sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Telushikin changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Telushikin changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Novoselic tries to avoid it but Telushikin manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Novoselic to the ground. Novoselic escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Telushikin dives in for a single leg takedown but Novoselic sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Novoselic steps into range and unloads a brutal right left combo! Telushikin is out on his feet! Novoselic sets himself and nearly takes Telushikin's head off with a straight right, sending him crashing to the mat! Wow, that was nasty... but awesome! Wooo!
