Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Andrew Balderas! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ted Goat! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Goat lands with a cross. Balderas rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Goat moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Balderas sets himself, and Goat steps forward looking for the clinch! Balderas avoids it this time. Goat fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Balderas, pushing him back against the cage. Goat scores with a shoulder strike. Balderas is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Goat to keep the fight standing. A short right from Goat. Balderas is looking to control Goat's arms but Goat gets an underhook and turns him. Now Balderas has his back to the cage. Goat scores with a shot to the side of Balderas's head. Goat digs a right hand into Balderas's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Balderas's gas tank. A nice right hand lands inside from Goat. Goat lands with a short punch from the clinch.
A short right from Goat on the inside. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Goat pushes Balderas back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. Goat softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Balderas jumps guard but Goat stands there with Balderas around his waist. Balderas gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Balderas jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Goat walks away with a smile on his face. Balderas gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andrew Balderas. That's going to take a lot out of him. Goat moves into range and clinches up with Balderas. Balderas trying to stall but Goat improves his position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Goat works on Balderas's body with a couple of short punches. Goat lands a shoulder strike. Goat lands a left hand.
Goat digs a right hand into Balderas's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Balderas's gas tank. Goat lands a hook to the side of the head. Goat working some nice short punches in the clinch. A shot in the inside from Goat. Goat lands with a light punch inside. Goat lands with a short punch from the clinch.

Goat lands an uppercut. This has been an exciting period of action! Goat throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Balderass head. Balderas tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Goat smiles and moves away.
Goat clinches up against the cage. Goat lands with a short head shot on the inside. Goat looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Balderas jumps guard but Goat stands there with Balderas around his waist. Balderas gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Goat lands a right hand. Goat lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Balderas looking to slow down the pace here. Balderas is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Good body shot from Goat.
Goat lands a hook that snaps the head of Balderas backwards. Balderas is trying to break the clinch but Goat has him pressed against the cage. Goat working some nice short punches in the clinch. Goat is pushing Balderas up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. A short left from Goat.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Goat working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. Balderas manages to pull guard.
Balderas escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Goat gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Goat throws a sloppy strike and Balderas has hooked up an armbar on the loose arm! He's turned and extended fully! Goat is forced to tap! Great BJJ from Balderas!
