PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Yeke Khan (ranked 5054 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rafik Arfah (ranked 24301 p4p, 0 weight class). Rafik Arfah told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Yeke Khan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rafik Arfah!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Cecil Peabody and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Arfah fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Khan manages to avoid it.
Arfah misses with a hook
and Khan counters with a series of strikes. Arfah will be more careful next time no doubt.
Arfah misses the jab.
Khan lands with a kick to the temple. Arfah shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"


It looks like Rafik Arfah has been cut.
Arfah takes a kick to the side of the head.
Arfah takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Arfah throws a poor cross that misses
letting Khan counter with a right hand.

Khan has closed the distance and engaged Arfah in a clinch.
Arfah tries to throw a body punch but Khan avoids it by throwing Arfah back against the cage.

Khan drags the fight down to the ground.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Khan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Khan will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Khan is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Arfah slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Khan trying to control but Arfah flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!
Arfah slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

Khan is in bad spot here.
Khan is working hard here to advance position.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Arfah has eaten all the pies!
Khan looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Arfah missing with strikes from the back.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
I would not like to be Khan right now.
Khan trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
Arfah is looking to control Khan but Khan is wriggling around and keeping busy.
Arfah just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Khan is trying to break free.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Arfah trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
Khan rolls, trying to escape but Arfah keeps control of the position.
Arfah biding his time, controlling Khan.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Yeke Khan dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Rafik Arfah's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Arfah throws a poor cross that misses
and Khan counters with a head kick. That will keep Arfah thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Arfah misses with a low kick.
Khan fails to land with a series of punches.
Khan lands a jab to Arfah's midsection.

Khan gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Khan breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Arfah misses with a body shot
and Khan counters with a three punch combo that has Arfah backing up. Arfah nods at Khan to acknowledge the strikes.
Arfah misses the shot to the body.
Khan lands a nice leg kick that just misses Arfah's sensitive parts.
Arfah misses with an uppercut.
Arfah throws a lazy right hand but Khan sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
As Arfah looks to move away, Khan throws a big counter combo but Arfah just gets out of the way.
Arfah pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Khan throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Arfah on the side of the head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Arfah misses with a left hand
and Khan counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Khan instigates a clinch.
Khan is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Arfah can do to turn this around?

Khan blocking some punches.
Arfah fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Arfah tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Khan breaks from the clinch.
Arfah misses with a looping left.
Khan staying out of range there.
Yeke Khan is winning the standup battle so far.
Arfah misses with a body punch
letting Khan counter with a right hand.
Arfah tries a low kick but Khan avoids it.
Khan appears to be looking for a big counter.
Arfah tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Khan is able to avoid easily.
Khan throws a big counter combination but Arfah scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Khan is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
A solid leg kick lands there for Khan.
Khan lands an overhand right.
Khan lands with a nice body punch.
Khan throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Arfah misses with a left hand
and Arfah takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Khan is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Khan moves into the clinch successfully.
Khan blocks a punch to the side of the head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Khan blocks an uppercut.
Arfah misses with a hook from the clinch.

Khan breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Rafik Arfah seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Arfah misses with a hook.
Khan avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Arfah throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Khan counters with a stiff right hand.
Khan works Arfah's body with a nice hook.
Khan throws a series of strikes that have Arfah backpedaling.
Khan scores to the head and body with a nice combination!


Arfah is rocked!
Arfah is sent reeling backwards by a solid uppercut. He barely regains his balance and Khan moves in for the kill throwing a continuous barrage of punches that force the ref to step in.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Yeke Khan!
Post fight, Yeke Khan took to the microphone: 'That was the plan.'.
