Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Osman Dawoud! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Betrdanu Son! The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Saam Ante and Aafke Stam.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Son shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Dawoud eats them both and turns towards Son to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Son throws a series of punches but Dawoud avoids them all with ease. Dawoud seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Son shoots in for a takedown but Dawoud shows good takedown defense. Son gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Dawoud counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Son throws a combination that misses and Dawoud moves into the clinch. Dawoud lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Son backwards. Dawoud lands a body punch in the clinch. Dawoud lands a body shot in the clinch.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Dawoud lands a right hand. Dawoud lands a body shot in the clinch.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Dawoud slowing the pace effectively.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dawoud stalls. Come on Dawoud - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Dawoud displaying some good clinch control by pressing Son up against the cage. The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Osman Dawoud. Son tries to clinch up but Dawoud circles away and keeps his distance. Dawoud appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body. Son fails miserably with a takedown attempt. It looked like Dawoud wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Osman Dawoud has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Betrdanu Son. Son has his takedown stuffed and Dawoud counters with a nice uppercut. Son falls off balance throwing a combination
and Dawoud counters with a lovely straight right hand! Son looks winded! Son throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Dawoud moves into the clinch.

The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Dawoud for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure. A nice right hand lands inside from Dawoud. Dawoud works on Son's body with a couple of short punches. Dawoud lands a nice uppercut. Dawoud is leaning against Son and scores with a nice uppercut to the body. A nice left hand lands by Dawoud.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Dawoud just leaning against Son, taking a breather. An uppercut to the body lands inside from Dawoud. A body shot lands from Dawoud.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Dawoud takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. Dawoud lands a right hand. Dawoud content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Son has had enough of the clinch but Dawoud keeps him there for the moment. Still in the clinch, Dawoud scores with a nice short uppercut. Dawoud scores with an uppercut up the middle. A hook to the body from Dawoud.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Dawoud. Dawoud gets through Son's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Dawoud avoiding damage.
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Osman Dawoud. Nice takedown defense from Dawoud. No joy for Son on that attempt. Dawoud lands a two punch combo.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Son drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Son is rocked! Son leaves his chin hanging out and Dawoud seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! Son crumbles to the floor in a heap! The referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Osman Dawoud! Osman Dawoud retains his lightweight title!
