The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grimes checks a low kick from Almeida.
Grimes is looking to land body kicks.
Almeida throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Grimes avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Almeida tries to bum rush Grimes with a series of wild strikes but Grimes uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Almeida throws a leg kick which misses Grimes's front leg but catches the back leg as Grimes tries to avoid it.
Grimes blocks a head kick by Almeida.
Almeida throws a leg kick but Grimes moved away.
Almeida throws a head kick but Grimes moves out of range.
Leonardo Almeida seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Grimes decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Grimes is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Almeida sees it coming and defends easily.
Almeida wants to control but Grimes is keeping busy.

Grimes goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Almeida turns into him and now he's in Grimes's guard.
Grimes is looking for a triangle but Almeida pushes his legs off easily.
Grimes is breathing heavily.

Almeida missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Almeida trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Almeida wants to stand but Grimes has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Grimes not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Almeida content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Grimes has locked up a guillotine! Grimes's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Almeida is holding on here and Grimes must be using up a lot of energy. Almeida has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Grimes gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
