Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Edwardo West!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sergio Pettis!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Valeri Chadov and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pettis misses with a head kick.
West looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit.

A momentary lapse in concentration from West enables Pettis to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. West manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Pettis postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! West is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Pettis, into his guard.


West stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Pettis feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
West keeping moving, preventing Pettis from controlling successfully.
Pettis wants to get up but he can't break West's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
West utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Pettis is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now West is on top in guard.

Pettis lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Pettis is looking to stand up but West won't let him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

West scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Pettis bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
West tries to improve position but can't.

West is trying to get back to half guard.
West is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Pettis asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Pettis tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Pettis has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Pettis decides to stand back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
A head kick misses from West.
Pettis throws a series of punches but West moves out of range.
West misses with a takedown

and Pettis counters with a nice double leg into guard.

West has his feet on Pettis's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Pettis darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
West tries to kick Pettis off in order to stand up. Pettis Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Sergio Pettis will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Excellent takedown into side control there by Pettis.
West really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Pettis decides to stand back up. Pettis steps back and let's West get back to his feet.
West misses with a head kick.
Sergio Pettis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
West tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

West tries to sprawl but Pettis drives through with a takedown into half guard.

West is looking for a sweep. Pettis is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
West moves into full guard.
Pettis trying to control but West is working from the bottom.

Pettis stands up and waves to West to follow him.
West tries to clinch up but Pettis circles away and keeps his distance.

Pettis closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. West quickly recovers to half guard.
Pettis slips a nice elbow through West's hands, connecting with West's forehead.
Pettis wants to free his trapped foot but West is holding on for dear life with his legs.
West is looking to escape.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Pettis slows the pace down in half guard.

West is looking to escape.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Pettis with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
West throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

and Pettis counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Pettis.
Pettis tries to free his leg and advance position but West is retaining full guard.
Pettis stands and throws West's legs to the side, diving into side control.

West wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
You can see the frustration on West's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Pettis content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Pettis decides to stand back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Pettis closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
West bucks up and tries to throw Pettis off but instead Pettis has got his back!

West won't enjoy being in this position. Pettis looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - West is tapping - it's over boys! Pettis picks up the submission victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Sergio Pettis!
Sergio Pettis decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
