Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Leonel Salamanca (ranked 4801 p4p, 0 weight class) and Takeru Ishii (ranked 4157 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Leonel Salamanca! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Takeru Ishii! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Chris Downing and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ishii bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Salamanca's head backwards. Takeru Ishii seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Salamanca finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Salamanca swings for the body but Ishii moves out of range.
Ishii misses with a looping right. Salamanca is looking to counter with a shot to the body. A big left from Salamanca misses. Ishii takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Salamanca staying out of range there. Salamanca quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect. Ishii pushes Salamanca up against the cage in a clinch. Salamanca tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Ishii's elbow. Ishii lands a damaging elbow. Nice elbow from Ishii. Ishii lands with a short head shot on the inside. Salamanca is looking to control Ishii's arms but Ishii gets an underhook and turns him. Now Salamanca has his back to the cage. Ishii lands a shoulder strike. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Ishii blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Still in the clinch, Ishii scores with a nice short uppercut. Ishii lands a right hand that snaps the head of Salamanca backwards. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Ishii creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Salamanca is rocked! A short right hand to the side of the head by Ishii. Oh Salamanca is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Ishii has Salamanca pressed against the cage. He pushes Salamanca back and as he springs towards him off the cage, Ishii throws a beautiful elbow that sends Salamanca crashing to the floor! Ishii piles on the pressure with more strikes! Salamanca is flailing away but he's not defending himself and the referee steps in to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Takeru Ishii!
